Photographers under $2500?

Looks like we've been estimating way too low for photography services for our wedding.Quick rundown on what were looking for:- 7 hours coverage- One photographer- DVD with files of photos- No need for albums, prints, etc (I'm a designer, so we'd make it ourselves)- Saturday wedding downtown October 2010Not many options out there bother pricing below $3000. We already checked Edward Fox and they seem very reasonable, but the photography is average. Are there other photographers out there we should check out? Are there other cost-cutting things we should consider when planning?

We are using Heather Parker and she includes 2 photographers for that package and I know we are getting 8 hours not 7. I have been subscribing to her blog since we booked her and its a treat to see the new stuff always. Good luck! Life on Prints is another photography company we looked at, and there are plenty of other great ones in Chicago too.

We are using Dale Jewell of A One Wedding photography. For a deluxe album, all day coverage, and full rights to the photos came out to $1795. He has a couple smaller packages as well, but they all include everything you're looking for. He's a very nice guy, and easy to work with, and his work is lovely. It's not the cutting-edge modern stuff, but a nice mix of traditional and slightly modern.http://aoneweddingphotos.com/

Yeah, Kara adjusted a package to meet my needs when i first booked her a year ago...  Check her out!

I highly recommend Matt Schademann - we had all day coverage, received all the printed proofs, rights to all the low res files (high res 6 mos after the wedding), and an album and it was only $2450 - if you wanted him for less time or without an album it's possible you could negotiate with him.  There's a full review in my married bio along with a link to our photos and our epics by him are in my planning bio.  He's great to work with!

I have had a great time so far working with Laura Witherow (laurawitherow dot com).  We are getting married in a month so I'll know our final product then, but she did my friends photos which turned out great.  Last year when when booked her she had some great prices.  We are getting two photographers for 8 hours (and then one to stay for another 2 hours) plus a DVD file of photos and an album for around $2200.

Ours was $2500 for 8 hours, cd of all photos, and she had an assistant.  Album is extra.  Studio R in Chicago.  Otherwise, Hazelton Photography in Geneva is also really great and her prices are around there too.

Also Heather Parker. Our package is $2K, but is in the off-season and we opted for only one shooter.

You should check out Dawn Roscoe, www.dawnephoto.com. I believe she offers packages for 2010 within your budget and is very artistic and modern.

We're using Jake Moreland of Two Birds Photography. He has a number of packages ranging from $2000-$3000 (if I remember off the top of my head correctly). We got the biggest package and it was only $3000. We haven't had our photos done yet, so I can't judge him based on my personal experience except for meeting him. He's a really nice guy and his work is exceptionally beautiful. Check out his blog and website.

I think we looked at Edward Fox...or there's another photog studio that ends in Fox that we looked at and it's really stuffy. We ended up booking with George Street Photography and Video. They have various locations including in the city, Schaumburg and Naperville (I think). Their packages were very reasonable and I think you may be able to get everything you're looking for there. The album really gets you with the cost!!

Katie Ryan did FSIL's wedding and was AMAZING! Not sure of her prices, though, and whether she'll do a custom package for you. My family always uses Fred Fox photography. Aveage, but very budget-friendly.

Timothy Whaley has been great so far, and our package is just around $2,500.

Danielle Aquiline's blog states that she's completely booked for 2010 - just in case anyone else is looking. :-( She's VERY talented, though.

Check out Caitlin Hazelton from Hazelton Photography in Geneva. She's soooo laid back, i'm hoping her relaxed attitude will rub off on me on the big day! We had our e session with her and the pics, although I was initially over critical of myself, turned out wonderful. I got sooo many compliments on them at the shower (we had some on display). GL!

You might try Andre Vospette.  He's an independent photographer based out of Naperville, and he's photographing our downtown wedding next weekend.  So far, we've done both engagement pics and bridal portraits with him, and LOVE his work.  I believe his packages start at $2500, but it doesn't sound like you need all the bells and whistles, so I think his pricing might work for you.  http://www.andrevospette.com/
