Reception Sites

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice hotels in chicago or not too relatively far from the chicago area, suburbs possibly for a wedding reception? I would like to have my church ceremony in the city and don't want my guests to travel extremely far for my reception? Looking for nice spacious ballrooms, pre-cocktail area, with great packages, friendly staff, and good food!!any suggestions will help! thanks!

I am having my ceremony in the city, and my reception is about 30-40 minutes away (Hyatt Regency Woodfield).  They have a few large ballroom selections, a small garden area for cocktail hour, and they have a great package deal.  I also looked at Victoria's Banquets in Rosemont by O'Hare, which is on top of the Holiday Inn Express.  The room is beautiful and I've heard good reviews on the food.  I don't think it had a separate cocktail area.Cafe La Cave is also by O'Hare and is really close to hotels.Maura81 just had her wedding at the same Church I am getting married at and her reception was at the Hilton at O'Hare.

We are having our reception at the Renaissance Oak Brook. Everthing has been great so far, and it's just a 20 min drive down 88/290 from the city.

Doubletree Mag mile has a spacious ballroom, a separate cocktail area, and their food was excellent, we're still getting compliments on the food.  Their packages were good, and they were awesome about adding things we wanted at no additional cost, and technically their staff was friendly.  There were a few service glitches the weekend of our wedding (with room reservations and other services), I will say that they are working with us now to get it resolved, and most of our guests were not aware of the issues.  However, this is why I recommend them with caution.  If great food, and decent prices for the city is most important to you, they are worth looking into.

WE are having our reception at Chevy Chase CC in WHeeling.  The people there are fantastic, the Grand Ballroom is huge, and the price is very reasonable!  I really can't say enough about it, definitely worth checking out!

You might want to look into Rosewood in Rosemont also-I have not seen the banquet area but the food is very very good there! Cafe Le Cave is great and they do nice receptions as well as let you bring in your own sweets for a sweet table!
