Hotels for guests in Chicago (Northside)

I'm getting married next June 30th and I am having a really hard time finding a hotel to book a block of rooms at.  We need about 35 rooms and no one that I have talked to will let us do the block for one night!  I don't understand, I can't be the only one to get married in June in Chicago with guests coming in for the night!!??  Any suggestions would be welcome.  I have literally called about 15 hotels. We are getting married in Ravenswood so we would like hotels more on the northside of Chicago but not Evanston!!!
Thank you!

You're going to run into problems because there is this huge oncology conference in town in June that has hotel blocks for years and years in advance. You are going to run into problems also with restaurants, so if you haven't booked your RD location, start looking now!

You might want to try some of the more boutique hotels on the Northside like the Willows in Lakeview - not sure if they have 35 rooms.  Also try the Days Inn on Diversey or the Inn at Lincoln Park (also on Diversey).

Thanks for the feedback - I am finding all this out!!  I tried the boutique hotels and besides being pricer and not having enough rooms, every hotel I have looked at so far has a 2 night minimum!!! Urrgggh!  How can this be that difficult?
What do you think about giving the guests a list of reasonable, close hotels, in the save the dates and telling them they need to book on their own (in nicer words) by March/April.  I hate not giving them a block, but they would probably get a cheaper rate using Hotwire or something like that.  Thanks again!

You should try hotelplanner.com - that will at least provide you hotels that are willing to provide you the block per your requirements.  They bid for your block...

the problem with boutique-y hotels that I found was that if you dont completely fill your block of rooms, you are responsible to pay for those unfilled rooms.

Also, I have also been trying to find blocks of rooms and I havent found any that will do it for one night. The problem with places like the days Inn on Diversey is that The Days Inn Probably has a corporate wide policy. But it is worth a shot.

You could always suggest an area that they stay in, Say Lincoln Park/ lakeview. And then people can use their hilton/ Mariott points. (I dont know what the etiquttee board would say about that, but it could work)

Unfortunately there isn't a great selection of hotels on the North side.  Days Inn and Best Western (on Broadway) may be your best options of non-boutique hotels.

I'd stay away from City Suites on Belmont...we had friends stay there and said it was horrible.

there's also the hawthorne terrace on broadway, and the belden stratford on lincoln park west.

I ran into the same problem! I am getting married June 2, 2012 and the hotels are all "booked" for the oncology convention. Who knew I should have blocked rooms prior to finding the church! HA. Right now people are staying at the Belden Stratford. There is suppose to be a new hotel opening in Wrigleyville, but I can not find out the name.

Some of my other guest are contacting VRBO- and renting condos with other couples around the city.  That is what I found...hope it helps!
