We had a tiered round cake and some sheet cakes; 3 flavors:
White w/buttercream frosting, cinnamon swirl w/buttercream frosting (it was kind of like a coffee cake; H chose this flavor) and pink champagne w/cream cheese frosting<<this was my fav and what we had to eat.
We'll be celebrating our first anniversary this weekend and busting out our cake...I really hope it's as good as I remember!
My cake was HUGE (see above) bottom layer was carrott cake with cream cheese frosting, next layer was dark chocolate cake with hazelnut mousse, next layer was yellow cake with strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries, next layer was the strawberry mousse and fresh berries sandwiched between a dark chocolate cake layer and a yellow cake layer, and the top was carrott because it was my favorite :-) they brought us pieces of each layer!
This is a mock up of our cake. It is a small two tier cake to feed 19. We'll have sheet cakes to cover the rest of our guests.
The two flavors are pumpkin ginger spice cake with praline filling and cream cheese frosting and champagne cake with strawberries and cream filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. We'll be eating the pumpkin cake. I'm so excited!
Ours is marble cake with a middle layer of graham cracker cake, with cream cheese filling, and buttercream frosting. All 3-tiers of the cake plus the sheet cake will all be the same flavor. I can't wait! A month to go
Ours was: Bottom tier: Marble cake, chocolate buttercream filling Middle: yellow cake, strawberry preserve filling Top: Chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream filling the outside was all vanilla buttercream filling
I *think* I had the yellow cake but I can't remember! We brought the top tier home and ate some the next day, put it in the freezer and ate some more when we came home from our HM, but I didn't want it taking up space in our freezer for a year so we threw it away I know how awful right? We'll have a bakery make us cake for our anniversary or something
I had a lime fluff cake! My favorite from a local bakery.
It is usually made only around St. Patrick's day but I spoke with the local bakery and they were more than happy to make it for my wedding. We only did three tier lime fluff. We had a large dessert table also.
Love all the special cakes and especially the apple pie...yum! Ours is sort of boring...white cake with vanilla custard and strawberry preserve filling. Our cake was included in our package with our reception venue, so we were somewhat limited in the flavors/fillings options. I'm not a big cake person to begin with, so I let FI decide. It was pretty good at our tasting, though!

Ha, Amy, that was our plan, well kind of. We ordered our cake planning on serving the top teir at the reception and then at our anniversary we planned on order a small cake. Our baker surprised us and made us an extra small cake for our anniversary as a wedding gift.
Since we got married in our hometown; our anniversary cake was in my parents chest freezer until a week ago when we were home. Like you, I wouldn't have been able to stand have it taking up space for a year!
Everyone else- all of these cake and desserts sound SO yummy, I'm getting hungry!
