Where should we stay on the wedding night?

So FI and I live together in Lakeview. We're getting married in North Center. Part of me wants to get a fancy hotel room downtown for the wedding night, but part of me thinks it is kind of a waste of money (since we're trying to be budget conscious) and that it is more "us" to stay at home.

What would you do? And do you have any recommendations for hotels? Where are you staying?

I voted for get a fancy hotel room! lol  Our reception is at a hotel, so we are staying there on our wedding night, even though it's about a half hour from our house.

I really love the Hard Rock, Swisshotel and the Wit. Check Groupon/Living Social/YouSwoop and all of those deals sites to see if you can get a room a a cheap price? Or, you could do priceline and try to find a room in a price range you could live with.

Option Z) Stay at a fancy hotel when you get a good rate on groupon or living social.

Stay in a hotel! It's your WEDDING NIGHT!!!! It doesn't have to be something crazy expensive such as Trump or anything like that. What about the Hilton on Michigan ave? They are fairly reasonable.

    I vote fancy, too :)

Also, agree with PP! We stayed at the Hard Rock for FI's birthday last year on a groupon and it was more than 50% off! Keep an eye out!

I voted fancy. If it really breaks the budget then you don't have to. But if you can make it work, I think it's worth to be able to just relax in a cool place where you don't have to worry about cleaning up, etc.

Are you going on a HM within a few days of the wedding?

Are you having an post-wedding festivities the day after the wedding?

Do you have a set-time you plan on leaving the reception?

Honestly if you have to wake up at 8am or something the next day, I don't think it's worth it, unless you get a Groupon, etc deal and/or you're not going on a HM soon after the wedding.

Yes, we're leaving on Monday for the HM. <div>
</div><div>Probably will have brunch with the fam the day after the wedding. </div><div>
</div><div>Haven't set a time that we're leaving the reception. . . our hosted bar ends at around 10, so I assume people will filter out after that, but the venue said we can stay until they close (which is 3am on Saturdays) </div><div>
</div><div>I could see us having to get up and do something the next day, so maybe you're right. </div>

    I voted FANCY :)
We are going to Sybaris! We get whirlpool, massage chair, rose petals, champaign, etc.
Some rooms also have pool, sauna, waterfall, waterslide. And each room is in its separate little building!

We've got a tight budget, so I vote that it should just be comfrtable for the two of you. Someplace that others won't know or follow you (so not your apartment) yet not too expensive since you'll be exhausted (but not a motel 6).
