Parasol questions

So I live in SoCal, and I contacted Luna Bazaar customer service to find out how much it would cost to ship an order of about 35 parasols directly to Oahu.  It would cost me $80 extra.  If you spend over $150, you get free ground shipping anywhere in the continental US.  If I took advantage of the free shipping, how much do you think it would cost to check in the package at the airlines, and bring it when we fly to Oahu in November?  Did you guys that used parasols, have them shipped directly (to your coordinator or family, etc.) or bring it with you? Also, I won't have more than 50 guests I think, but how many parasols should I order?  I doubt that the male guests will want to use parasols, so should I just order half the amount of guests that I expect?TIA :)

i dont think it's worth the extra $80 to pay for shipping. extra luggage at the airlines only cost $25 so i would just brin git with me or have another family member bring. i ordered my parasols (plane white) from OTC and had them shipped directly to my WC. My company owns OTC. I get employee discount so it didnt cost me much to have it shipped there. Yes, i would just order half the amount if guests.

Elaine - I had a similar situation.  I live in SoCal, and Luna Bazaar told me it would cost $100 to ship my stuff to Hawaii.  I had it free-shipped to me in LA, then took it with my luggage.  I would order enough parasols for all the women, and maybe for any older men that are single?  Men that are there with their wives can share with them without looking too pansy.  But I think it would be really helpful for senior citizens. g/l!

You know, when I called them up to buy my lanterns & parasols, they told me to go with a different company that's based in LA (I think). It was called The Paper Lantern Store. I only got charged 15$ to have my stuff shipped to Hawai'i. Their selection isn't as good, but the prices made it worth my while.

I'll have to double check how much the airline will charge us for a box, or if we just find a luggage big enough to put them all in, then the bag fee will be worth it.  The LA based company does have some good prices, but they didn't have the Ivory or the Cinnamon Red colors that I needed, that I've only seen on Luna Bazaar.Great advice, I'll count the ladies that are for sure, and then order accordingly, along with a few extras. Thanks ladies!

I think I will try to fit as much stuff in a luggage tote as I possibly can. I know it will cost more to ship usps so I am gonna make it fit and pay the $25.00.I plan on that suitcase being empty so I can send my wedding dress and shoes back in it with my sister while I honeymoon.

Elaine!! I agree with Jen...I'd suggest just taking it with you in your luggage! It would probably be cheaper to pay at most $30 to check in an extra bag...rather than spend more money just to get the free shipping. BTW, will you be taking a balikbayan box with you? Just pack it to the max like aunty's do! LOL!! =)
