Destination Wedding Bakery Choices

Hi Ladies,

I am new to the blog and I have a question about bakeries in Honolulu. I have contacted a few, but I was interested in different options as one of them quoted me $15.00 per person on my wedding cake (not what I had in mind at all), bringing the total well above my budgeted price...

This if you have any ideas on local bakeries that I can do some research on I really would appreciate it. I am looking for something simple in the $200 - 300 dollar range that will serve approx. 30 quests.

my wedding is not until September 3rd, but I really need this piece of the puzzle to be in place quickly.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

You might want to try Sunshine's Cake Creations.  Her prices are great!  Her designs are also really good, she can do pretty much anything you want.   We did a tasting with her, and the cake was very  moist.  She offers a lot of flavors.   In the end we decided not to go with her because a friend of a friend is doing our cake, but her prices would definitely be within your range and she was the best deal that we found.  Sunshine's is not in Honolulu, but she can deliver, and her delivery fee is not very high.

A lot of people also like Cake Works, and I think they would also be within your range, but I think they are slightly higher than Sunshine's.  $15 per person seems really high to me, so you should have no problem finding someone for less than that.  Some other popular places we looked into are Cake Lava (I think they are one of the more expensive bakeries because of their intricate designs), Aloha Cakery, Sugar Rush and Sweet Stop.

I'm not sure where you are getting married, but some girls on the board have pointed out that hotels charge a cake cutting fee if you bring in a cake from somewhere else, so you might want to figure that out before totaling your final cost.

We went with Cake Works, and were very pleased with our cake.  It was really yummy, and very reasonably priced.  I worked with Abby through email, and she was very helpful during the planning process.  If you know what you want, she can give you a price estimate.  Pics and review in my bio.  HTH!

Our WC got our cake from Mary Catherines (now Cake Works), it was delicious and very reasonable priced even with delivery fee.
