Kauai Recommendations

Started planning the honeymoon tonight! *happy dance*

Any suggestions for things to do/see on Kauai? We will be getting married on Maui, heading to Kauai for 4-5 days then back to Maui for another 4-5 days.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like fun! Book a snorkel boat tour along the na pali coast - for sure! Or a helicopter ride if you can afford to. (we didn't) I have a pretty long winded email I sent a few ladies that went to kauai, i could fwd it to you as well if you want.

Highly recommend Captain Andy's speed raft tour.  They take you along the Napali coast, into the caves where you can view some of the water falls, dolphin/sea turtle sightseeing, snorkeling, small hike and lunch.  It was an all day thing - super fun!  If you're not the adventurous type it might not be for you, but if you like to have a thrill then it's perfect!  The tour guides are so friendly and super fun!

I also recommend doing a helicopter ride along the Napali Coast.  We did the one where you land at the sight of the waterfall that was featured in the Jurassic Park movie.  It was fantastic!

Definitley visit Waimea Canyon as well - so beautiful there.  Great view and nice site for pictures.

If you have a chance to get a couples massage that would be great to.  We actually did two.  One at the Grand Hyatt (AWESOME) and the other at the Marriott near the airport area.  Both were great, but the Hyatt really create a soothing atmosphere for you.

Oh you can also rent snorkeling gear at a place like Snorkel Bob's and head out to the north side of the island.  It's pretty cheap (about $9 for the day per person). We went to Tunnels Beach and Ke'e Beach.  Both were fantastic and we got to see a lot of fish there. Try and visit the Beach House as well for a nice dinner - and go during the day when you can actually see the water.  Great food!

The Bullshed - for dinner! :) Lots of the locals go there.

Definitely snorkeling along the Na Pali Coast - I normally don't snorkel, but I sure did here - maybe it was the boat ride and having just gotten engaged! (We got engaged on Niihau (Forbidden Isle off Kauai) - but spent 5 days on Kauai.)

If you are nuts about nuts - http://kauainutroasters.com/ a lil pricey, but I looove them.

Definitely (if you are adventurous) try some Kauai Kulolo, its a mix of taro and coconut milk and brown sugar. http://culinarytravel.about.com/od/photogalleries/ig/Kauai_Food_Photos-/kalolo.htm

Maybe I'm just hungry right now. ;)

    We loved Kauai!

We loved our Napali cost trip on Napali Makai, which is captained by a local Kauaian who owns his own boat.  You get a very personal touch on this smaller sized boat, and we liked that he leaves early enough to get a head start to some to the popular snorkel spots.  http://www.napalimakai.com/

We also had a great time renting beach cruiser bikes in Kapa'a at Coconut Coasters and heading off north from town on the bike path that is along the coastline.  Take a lunch (and water!) and picnic at any one of the covered picnic tables.  Take a towel and go for a swing at one of the beaches you'll pass (you can rent a lock at the shop).

We LOVED the fish at the Dolphin Fish Market in Hanalei - get there earlier in the evening to get a table, and eat some of the best prepared and freshest fish, seafood and sushi around.  If you do a day trip to the north side, this is a great place to end the day.

Have a fantastic time!  We loved our time on Kauai.

Josselin's Tapas bar - it's loud, but the food is amazing. Also, the Hyatt. Sweet Jesus, I cannot recommend it (or their spa!) enough.
