Don't use our e-pic photographer!

Kalen Foley - a nice guy that is making a living doing photography, but I would never use him again!

We got our engagement pictures done last month, and were so unhappy with them! We had them done at Longwood Gardens which is a beautiful place that I love! But when we got our pictures back, we realized we didn't have any pictures with any of the flowers Longwood is famous for. We had one picture with flowers, but they were dead roses. Not what I had expected.

We got a cd of all of the high-res pictures, uneditted for $250. I know they were uneditted, but they were generally bad pictures. Some were too dark, almost all were crooked, and the coloring was totally off in most of them. It was awkward to work with him too. He would put us in positions and just tell us to "interact." The awkwardness definitely showed in our pictures.

I told him we were unhappy and had him edit about 25 of them. All he did was straighten them. We spent hours making them usable in photoshop.

He was recommended by friends, but I can't pass along that recommendation.

For what it's worth, I like your pictures and they certainly turned out better than mine.  DH and I also had ours done at Longwood Gardens, and were seriously disappointed as well.  We used the same photog for our wedding pictures (e-pics were part of our contract) and were very unhappy with them too.  Hindsight's 20/20, eh?

Your pics are way cute... but thanks for the heads up on the photog. Longwood has a lot of pretty flowers that would have really added to the pictures, although,, without them in it, it gives more focus to the two of you.

FWIW, people (including myself) often tend to look at themselves and pictures of themselves more harshly than others will.  We had an issue with this same type of problem a few months ago; another girl who used my photog said that the photos were horrible, the photog was horrible, etc.  When others actually looked at the pictures, it turned out they weren't that horrible at all, she was just very critical of herself.  I tell you this for your benefit so you can try to go a little easier on yourself.

I personally don't know of any of Kalen's work, but if you need a new photog, I am sure the girls on here can give you recs to stand by.  Let us know your price range and we can help you from there.

Thanks! I'm much happier with them after we got photoshop and really worked on them. When I first got them I just cried. I know it's hard to look at them when it's actually you in them, but a lot were just really really bad. After cropping, straightening, lightening, and resizing, they're finally the way we wanted. We just didn't think we'd have to put all that work into them. And he's not our wedding photographer which is a huge relief!

Oh that's good!  I am glad to hear that you are okay with them now.  I do believe it was bad practice for him not to do the things you yourself had to do.  I am glad to hear that you are okay with your wedding photog!

You poor thing!  I would have cried too if that were not what I expected.  Love the blue dress.  I can see why you were disappointed because it didn't really capture LG and was ackward but... if I wasn't aware of that, I would have thought they were nice pics.  The two of you are adorable regardless.  The architecture in the background is beautiful.

Sparrow-We just met with Rishells because we won an e-session.  It is this weekend at the beach so we'll keep our fingers crossed. 

It is so hard to pick a photog.  I am in the process of setting up a zillion appointments. Have you guys really help
