TSPA in ames

Hello!
I wanted to get my hair done for my wedding in Ames in July, and the place that most people go, and I would probably go is TSPA, the hair college. I was wondering if anyone else has gone there for their wedding and how it turned out? I just don't want there to be a mistake, since it is still a hair college..

Thanks!

I am also planning on using TSPA in Ames, although I've also never been there. As for being worried about them being students, there is always an instructor near by to assist and guide them, so I'm not overly worried about that. You can always ask for a more advanced student and sometimes you can ask if they have anyone who is especially good with up-do's or whatever you are looking to have done. If you go in for a trial and find someone you like, be sure to find out if they will be available for your wedding date--I'm not sure what graduation dates are like, so if you do get an advanced student and your wedding is after graduation, you may want to consider using someone who will be available. Also, TSPA does make up, nails, and massages at very low prices too---I'm thinking about using them for everything! Good luck!

You guys, be careful. I have used their stylists for a photo shoot (I do art direction on the side), and it is a crapshoot. The first time, they did a decent job. The second, well, it wasn't so good. I also used their services once, personally, for a facial. It was bad. I had to wait forever, and in that time span I saw FOUR people leave without paying because they were so unhappy with their hair. So be careful.

I agree to use caution.  You can get really lucky but you can also get someone really bad.  I would definitely do a trial and make sure you have the same person on your wedding day.  Also, they tend to take forever.  Everytime I've gotten my hair cut there, it's taken over an hour and updo's take even longer.  When I got my hair colored it took 5 hours.  Maybe not the best place for wedding day hair.  It is really inexpensive though, so if you're on a tight budget it might be a good idea.  Just be careful!
