What were your outdoor ceremonry site back up plans?

Hey,  I am thinkning of having our ceremony at one of the minneapolis parks.  If the weather is horrible and we have to get married inside, I want that space to be just as lovely.  The venue for our reception would not be ideal, because the changeover would have to happen with all the guest right there and we are not religous so a church would not work either.  I don't want to spend a ton of money on something we may not need.  Basically, I'm so confused...Please let me know what you have done!!

  • I'm getting married at Centennial Lakes Park, there you have the option of having the ceremony in the outdoor ampitheater and if the weather sucks then moving everything into their centrum building. I'm personally not taking a chance with the weather and just having everything inside. You really never know with our weather what's going to happen no matter what time a of year.

  • Our reception venue will only charge us $250 if we have to move the ceremony to their location at the last minute, so we're going with that. Luckily, they have a separate bar and restaurant, so we can send guests there between the ceremony and reception.
  • We got married at Black Bear Crossings on Lake Como in St. Paul. It rained pretty much all day the day of our wedding, but because the promenade is covered, there were no issues and the guests stayed dry. We got a lot of compliments on the venue - a lot of my guests (most of whom are from the Mpls/St. Paul area) had not been to Black Bear before, which suprised me, but was nice.

If you are interested, there are links and pictures in my bio. Price wise it *is* a little bit more, however if you use a park but then have to rent chairs, tents, etc, it all ends up being about the same, so to me it was worth the extra cost to not have to worry about having a back up plan.
