Engagement Picture Locations- fall

Any one have any good ideas anywhere in the twincities area for engagement pics with good fall color? Or if there is an apple orchard or pumpkin farm type place that will let us take picutures? I was thinking Taylors Falls but the photog is quite booked and dont know if we have the time to go that far... TIA!

I am hoping to do mine at the Crow-Hassen Park Reserve. They have a dog park that I go to all the time but there is a lot of water so I didn't want to go there because I will have a wet dog to deal with then! There are a lot of great parks in this Three Rivers Park District. There is also another park in Maple Grove if you don't want the extra drive called Elm Creek Park Reserve. There is also a fenced dog park there but there aren't a lot of trees in it. Most of the water at this park is in a separate fenced area that you would have to let your dog in to so I like that part of it. I don't know if these locations work for you at all. Not sure what side of the city you are in. I am obviously on the NW side so I know these locations the best.

Oh I ran across these sites just now to show what the current leaf conditions are and the typical peak time:

There's a place called MN Harvest in Shokopee that's an apple orchard/pumpkin patch with a big barn and wagon wides.  I don't know if they'd let you take pictures though.

We just did ours on Raspberry Island and in Kellogg Mall Park in downtown St. Paul.  They turned out great!  I got a lot of compliments on the location.

Taylors Falls is awesome but you could always go to Minnehaha Falls in Mpls. They have a couple waterfalls and plenty of trees.

Locke Park in Fridley also has some secluded whinding trails in dense wooded area and  a Dog Park.  :)

    HTH!

    Minnesota Apple Orchards listed here:

Some of them will let you bring pets!  My family always visits Whistling Well Farm and Fischers down in the Afton/Hastings area and bring our dog along.

There's apumpkin patch in the Scandia/Wyoming area that's really pretty.  They've got a barn, too, which might look nice in the background.

If you do end up going to Taylors Falls, a really funny picture could be of the 2 of you in the coffee shop on Church St. by St. Joseph's Catholic Church... in their bathroom.  The bathroom is done up like a dungeon and it's pretty cool and unique.  If you go up that way, there are a ton of beautiful spots in Interstate Park, just across the border, and there are some lookout points on Hwy. 8 that you could stop at.  The river and bluffs in the background would be gorgeous.

Can you tell I'm from that area?Smile

The Landscape Arboretum in Chaska is pretty great, too, but you'll need a permit.  We went there last Saturday to do ours and there were a ton of gorgeous little spots, and even more if you do the 3-mile drive.

We went downtown Stillwater for ours. They turned out beautifully. I can imagine how beautiful the trees along the river would look as a backdrop. There are tons of old buildings that make great backdrops, too, and many parks/historical landmarks to visit.

I'd go for Minnehaha falls. There's so much land there and so many places to go within Minnehaha falls. Actually, one place where a lot of brides would go is across the street from the Longfellow house (on the east side) there's this arch thing that's really pretty.

Oh, and I promise I'm not a crazy person invading the Mpls board - I'm currently in South Florida, but I'm originally from South Minneapolis, so I thought I'd check out what the Minnesota girls were talking about!

The second you said fall colors I was going to suggest Taylors Falls too.. You should ask your photog just in case. You really can't beat the changes of the leaves up there!
