I have two for this one...

1. Traditional guest books...I just don't get the point really. What are you supposed to do with them? Hopefully you visit with your guests at your wedding and you will know they were there. Plus, not everyone signs them anyway. I don't know, I just feel like it is something that must get shoved in a drawer or thrown away after a very short time. Instead of having a guest book at our wedding we are setting out polished river rocks (large ones) and silver metallic sharpies. Guests will be able to sign or write a message on them and then we will use them as a decoration in our house in a glass vase or bowl or something. (Sorry long rant on that one...)

2. The M_____________ line on response cards. I just think it is really old fashioned and have never liked it.

LOL I was just thinking of all the ones I have that annoy people :)

- I almost was going to have an all white boquet :) LOL I love the simplicty and clean look.

-Kate- I like head tables so there's another one on my list!

-People said they don't liek cupcakes. I don't even know why I chose them, probably because they were cheaper, but I definately think an actual cake looks nicer.

hmmm I think there were some more I had that bugged people :)

Pop!

I used to be quite the pop drinker in high school, but ever since college I can't stand it. I like IZZE sodas every once in a while but that's it.
I've always hated the band U2. They either get personally offended OR have a hard time understanding why I could possibly dislike such a classic . So, in the world of weddings... what's the one thing that everyone else loves but you can't stand? Bonus points if you tell us why!
Posted by maybe984
I can't stand U2 either!!

An ex boyfriend of mine is OBSESSED with U2, even travels around the country for concerts. He'd always make me watch their concert DVDs and stuff. Before I met him, I had a fairly neutral opinion of U2, that pushed me over the edge lol.

I know this will make people mad but I hate the traditional bouquet toss. I hated being singled out when when I was single. Plus, I'm so competitive I was always afraid my killer instinct would take over and I would hurt another girl in the processes:) We are giving my bouquet to the final couple left standing after the anniversary dance.

I will just do an entire post about my dress aggravations:

Going off the strapless dresses issues (which I agree can be hit or miss and there should be more styles of dresses offered) I told my MOHs to not let me try on any strapless A line dresses that were "so unique" because sorry, 95% of the time your dress will look like any other wedding dress to me, and will seem boring. And a lot of weddings I have been to, it has been A line strapless. "meh."

And all that beading? I don't get it, I have not once seen a heavily beaded wedding dress sparkle very much.

And, I strongly disklike when super busty women wear strapless dresses and then look like they are going to expose a nipple at any second- I can't focus on them or the dress, I only focus on "is that going to pop out of your dress?"

I have a couple -

"Butt" veils where the veil sticks out of the bottom of a hairdo close to the nape of the neck. I don't get the point. Why bother with a veil?!

Color on gowns - not a fan personally which is why I didn't have it. Don't care if other people like it, I just don't.

Non assigned tables.

BYOB - yes, we're invited to a wedding that is BYOB.

Favors with the couple's name or wedding date on it.

And gifts for your attendants that are given as a single item when they should be a set. Drives me crazy. What the heck am I going to do with a single wine glass or a single beer mug that doesn't match anything else I own - especially if it is engraved with the wedding date or couple's name (see above) besides promptly donate it?

I don't know.. but part of a wedding to me is the ambiance and faux flowers just don't do that for me. Remind me of JoAnn Fabrics too much... lol. The scented ones make me sneeze too! :)

(don't get me wrong they can be VERY pretty! Just not for me)

So many good ones listed above! I totally agree about the strapless dresses- one there is no way it would look good and me, and two, the ubiquitous (sp?) nature of them made finding a dress with straps so much harder than it should have been.

I also strongly disliek the unity candle/sand thingy.

One of my own, as a guest I hate it when people don't get their pictures done ahead of time. I don't want to sit around for what feels like hours while you get your pictures done, even if there is an open bar. I find it even more annoying when there isn't a cocktail hour and there is a gap between teh ceremony and the reception in which I'm somehow supposed to entertain myself.

Alrighty, a few of mine:

*Satin bridesmaid dresses! I don't think I have ever seen one on someone that really looked good. Most people aren't a size 2, and I just think satin shows off flaws moreso than other fabrics

*The traditional ceremony. I just think it's so overdone and old fashioned. Most of the ones I've seen have nothing injected into them to make it about the couple. I realize that a lot of people don't have a choice since they are having a religious ceremony, but I wish that churches would allow a little more personalization.

*Extremely large wedding parties. I feel like most of the drama stories I hear about brides and their BM's are with parties where there are like 7 or more girls.

*Tiaras! I just think it makes it look like prom or something.

I second almost everything everyone else has posted as well! From the white bouquets to the unity candle.

And LOL at Kate - I do have one of these "offenses" on my list - the aisle runner. Generally I would agree with you that they are kinda pointless, but our aisle will be concrete so I want something to dress it up. I'm making flower petal runners to go on either side and we'll be taping it down before guests arrive so it will lay right, so hopefully it will look alright!

I second the white bouquets,

Great post. I have to agree that I hate the Unity Candles and Head Table (didn't have either at our wedding). But if other people really like them and want them at their wedding, not a big deal...do whatever makes you happy. I also have to agree with cupcakes...seems out of place if you have a more formal wedding and people have to eat them with their hands. I also love cake filling, and cupcakes don't always have filling.

Now, I also have to add a new one:

FAVORS!!

I don't know why. Maybe it reminds me of having favors at birthday parties when I was a kid, and it doesn't seem right at a wedding? Maybe I just don't like jordan almonds? The DIY favor bar is the worst to me. Maybe I'm just a healthy eater and don't think you need more than cake?

Oh...where to start? I strongly dislike:

- strapless dresses
- supposedly "fun" dance traditions (dollar dance, chicken dance, YMCA, etc.)
- bathroom baskets
- candy bars
- "I DO" letters on the cake table
- tiaras
- garter/bouquet toss

These elements all just seem so overdone and tacky to me!

So... why is it ok to call strapless dresses 'overdone'? This one bugs me, and not just because I had one.

Attire is totally different then saying you odn't like favors or cupcakes, etc. Why are dresses with straps so much better? Genuinely curious. I don't think I look good in halter dresses or ones with straps, but I thought I looked good in my strapless dress. I'd never say I hated someone's dress with straps just because it's 'so traditional', so why hate strapless dresses because they're 'so modern'? That's not why I chose my dress.

I can totally agree with thinking ill-fitting dresses are tacky, though. But not everyone with strapless dresses and big boobs walked around all day almost falling out. That's an asinine generalization.

Wait what generalization? I said I don't like when busty women wear strapless dresses and then are falling out etc etc, not that all busty women can't wear strapless because they will all hang out. There are just a couple weddings I have gone to where I was genuinely curious how they hadn't exposed themselves yet because it was so ill fitting up top. I am fully confident it is possible to be busty and have a strapless dress not about to expose your nips.

That's true, but I've also seen many a dresses WITH straps that fit horribly with skin/fat bulging out around the straps/neckline.

I guess I just don't understand singling out strapless dresses. Especially because one of the reasons was that it's "so modern and overdone." Um? So are dresses with straps? weird justification.
