[QUOTE]In Response to Re: I know everyone loves _______, but I hate it! : Completely agree. At a friend's wedding (that both FI and I were in the WP for) she had a cash bar which I'm totally fine with paying for my own vodka collins especially when the bride doesn't drink at all so didn't really want to provide liquor for everyone, however FI, who is also not a big drinker, was paying for his diet coke's all night, as well. THAT is lame, IMO. At that point, I'd rather it be BYOB because at least then he could have brought in his own can of pop rather then spending $2 a glass.

<div>Dude. I was in a wedding at the end of June and I almost flipped my sh*t when I had to pay for a can of sprite. All I kept thinking is "you have the nerve to register for a $140 <em>soup tureen</em> but you can't<em> </em>provide free n/a beverages for your guests?". Nothing was hosted except for some tasty tap water and some warm punch. Seriously, the WP and guests were breaking down dinner tables to make way for the dance. It was beyond cheap-ass. I schlepped my butt off all day for the bride, carried folding chairs like a pack mule and the only gratis thirst quencher I can get is some municipal tap water? Shaaaaaaame.</div><div>
</div><div>If I hadn't been knocked up at the time, I would have ditched out on that reception and gone to the bar.</div><div>
</div><div>Phew! I've been wanting to vent about that for two months.</div>

We are having a partial host bar. Beer and wine, I think. I have a strapless dress but thought I wanted a v neck strap one until I tried mine on. I'm still surprised that I didn't go with a strapped dress.

Yeah, cash bars are fine, within reason. Charging for pop (especially when beer is free) is completely ludicrous.

I went to a wedding once where the following convo took place between myself and the bartender...

    "So, is anything hosted?"
"Miller Light, Bud Light, and fountain sodas. Everything else is cash only."
    "Do you have Dr. Pepper?"
    "In cans. Cans cost $2.50."
"Well, what sodas are on tap?"
"Diet Coke and Diet Mountain Dew."
    "Wait... only diet?"
"Only diet. We have two taps and this is what the couple chose."
    "I can't drink diet."
"Get the Mountain Dew. You can barely tell it's diet."
    "No, I can't drink diet. I'm allergic."
    "Allergic? To diet soda?!"
    "Yes. Allergic. Throat-closey-eye-swelly-dry-heavy allergic!"
"I've never heard of that before. Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure. Dammit... just give me a glass of water then."

That's so funny, my non-hosting bride had a $150 gravy boat on their registery!
