Amber Heckert (MUA)

Has anyone used her? I used her for my boudior photos and she was awesome. We agreed that we'd like to have her for our wedding in July. We've been communicating via e-mail, but she has been very slow in responding (or not at all).

I am currently waiting for her to send me a contract, but I haven't heard from her in over a month. I've e-mailed her a few times without luck.

For those who had her- did you have a similar problem? Is she usually like this?

I am considering looking for a different one if I don't hear from her. It's been very frustrating.

Sorry to hear about your experience.  I have not used her nor have heard of her but based on your experiences there'd be no way I'd trust her to be punctual or responsible with your wedding photos.  I think prompt correspondances prior to the wedding say a lot about the vendor!

She is currently in Vietnam and then going to Bangkok for 5 weeks. I heard about her too and contacted her and this is what she told me today. I think she may have varied internet access.

So she responded back to you today? I have a feeling that she doesn't want to work with me because everything stopped when I said the make up would be just for me, not for my WP (they declined). Ugh.

Don't worry about it. I used Amber and as much as her email communication was spotty she was INCREDIBLE. I loved her - just remember because she's out of the country she may not be able to send you contracts etc. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. You can always call her and leave a voicemail iabout your concern. I also had her do my boudior makeup and that's when I had asked her about my wedding... it took a while for her to get back to me when I'd email, but honestly I'm so happy that I went with her, she listened to everything that I wanted and on my wedding day, I felt like the most beautiful person ever! HTH

Also, she knew it was going to be only me (and maybe my sister if I paid for her) and she was still more than willing to drive to St Cloud to do everything. (My WP also declined... until the day of) On my wedding day I had 3 BMs and 2 JBM and FG  ALL want their makeup done once they saw Amber, and she accomodated the girls NO problem! If I know Amber from working with her in October, she is SUPER excited to work with you but her MUA job is her side job!

Now I feel panicky- it's like I MUST have her now! Do you know her number? I only have her e-mail address. I'm just not sure if I should start searching for a different MUA or hang onto her?

Personally, I would not go with a vendor who does not respond quickly. I mistakenly hired a florist who took more than other vendors to respond to emails and quote requests. I loved her work, but ended up firing her 2 weeks before the wedding after she did not check in with me as promised. I left her daily phone messages, and after her not calling me back for 4 days, I decided I could not trust her to get the flowers done on the wedding day. If it we me, I would look for someone else. I found three were so many great vendors out there, there are probably several other great makeup artists out there who have better communication skills.
