I need someone to carry my train-who?

Both my mother and mother-in-law think I need someone to hold up my train while walking down the 'aisle' (it's outside), because my dress has a lace overlay that could very well get caught on something. I'm ok with that, but I'm stuck on who should do it. I had 2 ideas and I don't know if I like either: I have a 5 year old boy who could carry it (he'd do fine), but I don't know if he would like it for sure. My other idea is even weirder - would it be really weird to have my mom carry my train while my dad walks me down the aisle? Honest answers please, I know this is kind of a weird dilemma. Thanks!

That job is usually done by children. It is a cute job for them. Honestly, I wouldn't want to be a grown woman carrying the train of the bride. That is just me, but maybe your mom would feel differently.

I would say ask the little boy, but really it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I think I agree. He should be pretty cute and i'm sure my mom would rather watch me walk down the aisle. thank you!

go with someone small...that say the dress isn't being held TOO high.  Don't want to give your wedding that kind of show ;)

Agreed.  Someone tiny.  Unless you decide to forgo it altogether.  Are you walking along rough ground?    If not, I think it'd be fine and then you don't run the risk of the little guy tripping or something.

But definitely don't have your mom do it.  She'll want to walk you down the aisle.  Plus, I liked that my mom got her 'moment' to be the proud mother of the bride when she got escorted down the aisle at the beginning of the processional, KWIM?

    HTH!

another good point. i think we are going to rent a runner, so if we have that it shouldn't really get caught on anything. perhaps i will forgo it. maybe i'll have a better idea after my dress comes in and i can walk around in it more and figure it out. Thanks!
