Groom's Cake

When should I order my groom's cake? My wedding is March 2010 (8 months away). Also, I want to get him an LSU related cake but the cheapest Tiger Stadium cake I found, that actually looks like tiger stadium, was $450, and I think that is a crazy amount to spend on a groom's cake. I was thinking more like $250. So, does anyone have any good LSU Groom's cake ideas/bakery suggestions? TIA!

I can see why the stadium would cost so much.  Build-ups are costly.  Have you considered doing just the football field with the LSU logos and inzones?  It's not as exciting but it could still be very LSU and much less expensive.  Check out the links below with a few other ideas/photos.  I found all of these just by going to images.google.com and searching for "lsu cake".1.  http://ido-weddingcakes.net/images/lsu_cake.jpg2. http://jamesandcourtney.com/JAMESMAG/IM001287%20(2).JPG3. http://www.sweetdreamscustomcakes.com/images/LSU1.jpg4. http://hillcountrycakes.com/yahoo_site_admin1/assets/images/lsu_cake.111114024_large.png5. http://www.sweetheavenlycakes.com/photos/thumbs/thumb_d87b57.jpg

http://fairydustcakes.com/lsustadiumcakes.htmlShe has an LSU Stadium cake that is $325 (last picture in slideshow). I'm sure she'd be willing to work on the price with you if the cake didn't serve 98 people. Give her a call...she does great work. Goodluck on finding a stadium cake on the cheaper side though girl. It's hard work, I gave up when I was searching for our wedding.

Have you tried Sweet Impressions or Creative cakes by Vickie. You can find them on google and their prices are very reasonable.
