I was considering the Columns. I used to love going there when I lived in New Orleans. The Pros for me where that it is a historic hotel and being off of St.Charles, I thought it would be really cool to have the ceremony at Audubon and charter a streetcar to take the guests to the wedding at the Columns.
The Cons where that the private area is very small, so it depends on the size of your wedding/reception.
They said we could have the wedding on the porch which I loved, because I love that porch, but the reception was going to be a problem.
My wedding is going to have 75-100 guests and I think it would be way too small. I was secretly wanting to cut down my guest list just to have it here.
Oh also I sent them an email in December and they replied in May, so it may have had something to do with a change in personnel, also I had an appointment at 4pm on a Monday and I waited for about 45 minutes for the person I needed to speak with. So that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

My dad was married at The Columns about 10 years ago. They were married on the front steps and had the reception inside. Even though it was in August it wasn't that hot and the ceremony was beautiful! I agree that the area inside is quite small for a reception if you have a larger guest list. I'm not sure how many they had at their wedding but I believe it was around 50 people. I've been there recently for drinks and I love it! The only thing I would consider would be the size. Also, my stepmother and I got ready upstairs and I remember the room we were in was very nice!

I had my ceremony and reception at The Columns on May 8, and the actual event was great - everything I expected it to be.  They did go through several event coordinators during my planning process (with the last being fired the day of my wedding BEFORE the ceremony), so it was stressful, but it turned out great in the end.  We had about 115 guests, and there was plenty of room for them to sit in chairs on the lawn while we were married on the porch.  There was also plenty of room in the banquet room for people to dance, but they could also mingle in the other areas, which was nice - it never felt crowded at all.  Overall it was great and I highly recommend it if you want to set your wedding apart and make it a memorable occasion for all.

I say go for the Columns. I was going to have my wedding there originally until we started adding more and more people to the guest list. Sasha, the event coordinator is excellent to work with and she's super cool. It's perfect for a small gathering and their bridal suite is fan-flipping tastic!

I would only suggest that you have your wedding reception in the afternoon because they do not close off the bar areas at night, so public people will be around
