Wedding Day Hotel Recommendations

Hi everyone!  I don't have a location for my BMs and I to get dressed on the wedding day, so I'm thinking that a hotel in the downtown area would be nice.  I'll be followed around by my photographer for most of the day, so I'd really like it to be a place that has nice rooms and perhaps even a courtyard.

Any recommendations for hotels or alternate locations would be very much appreciated!  We're on a budget so the more reasonable the price, the better.

Also, those of you who got dressed/will get dressed at a hotel on your wedding day: Do you have to spend the night there before and after the wedding to have the room for the entire day?

My bridesmaids and I all got dressed at the Chateau Bourbon. We ended up with a bunch of upgraded suites that were huge and perfect.  Most of my guests were OOT, so we had free rooms and upgrades from the number of rooms booked.

The price for everyone was only $99/night (in late March), which was really reasonable. If you don't have a bunch of people staying at the hotel, you may not be able to negiotiate, but it's worth a shot. Chateau Bourbon does have good sized rooms and a courtyard. I could send you pictures from the courtyard - we took a bunch with the wedding party, though my favorite pic was catching a Canal St. Streetcar just outside.

I stayed at the hotel the night before, partially out of tradition. And to have the room early (I needed it by noon) and all of my stuff there the night before, even though I live Uptown. If you plan to get dressed at the hotel, I would get there the night before. There's just a lot to remember to bring!

And my husband and I stayed there that night (note: it was free for us) so we could hang out with everyone. We actually stayed there Sunday, too!

Some hotels will make you do a 2 night minimum if you are staying on a Saturday.  This was the case at Hotel Monteleone, which is what I'm using, but it is on the expensive side.  Like PP said, you will probably find that you want to have the room the night before anyway, if only to be able to get in there first thing in the morning.  You don't want to be sitting around with your dress and all your accessories waiting for the hotel check-in time.  I guess it's not essential...but you'll prob sleep a lot better the night before knowing that everything is on-site and ready to go!

I've booked a block of rooms at the St. James Hotel on Magazine. They were by far the cheapest rate and I was sure to check out the location and rooms before signing the contract.
