wedding weekend suite and first look

Hello ladies! I am a local bride, getting married in September at the Board of Trade. (on magazine 3 blocks in from Canal) All my out of town guests are staying at the Country Inn and Suites, directly accross the street. My FI and I dont really want to stay at the same hotel as everyone else, but we want to stay somewhere close. I dont want all my guests to see me as i'm leaving the hotel, right?! PLus we've decided to do a "first look" to save some time, since we are getting a second line.

SO my question is, anyone know of a good hotel in the CBD that has a suite we could stay at? I guess i'd have my girls come over and get ready in the suite with me and have my FI go... somewhere else to get ready.  So I'd want the suite to be nice enough for the getting ready photos. and maybe somewhere in the hotel or nearby that would be pretty for some first look photos?

Id love any and all thoughts and ideas! thanks! :)

Re: wedding weekend suite and first look

  • La Pavillon is beautiful.
Also Windsor Court, The Roosevelt and the Ritz. I'd call around and ask for tours to see the suites they have available. Make sure and talk to someone in the sales department- not the front desk.
You may also want to check out Lafayette Hotel in the CVD on St. Charles Ave. It's part of the Valentino hotel group (Valentinohotels.com). It looks beautiful and you might get more attention since it's a boutique hotel.
  • I got married at the Board of Trade and stayed at the Omni Royal Orleans.  You can always stay at the Royal Crescent which around the corner or the W hotel.

I second the recs for the Ritz, Roosevelt and Windsor Court as well.

I looked at the Omni Royal Cresent right there by BOT, is that what you mean? How was the suite there? I guess i'm trying to figure out.. do we pay for a suite for all weekend or just one night. was the suite there nice? anywhere at that hotel to take nice pics? the lobby wasnt very big but i didnt explore the rest.

I looove the Winsor court, it's 350 a night tho. so i couldnt afford to stay there all weekend. I am now looking into the other hotels ya'll mentioned, thank you!

the Lafayette hotel's prices are very reasonable, I'll have to go check that out this weekend. thank you!

  • My suite was at the Omni Royal Orleans in the French Quarter.  I really wanted to take pictures in their lobby and in the Quarter, so it was easier for me.  I booked the suite for the entire weekend, because I needed it to get ready in and didn't want to have to move to another room  that day.  The suite itself was nice, but not as spacious as other hotels.

Why don't you also check out the St. James Hotel?  It's directly next door to the Board of Trade.  They have a back entrance that you can use to get to the side entrance of the Board of Trade.
