Invitation Question

When is the "right" time to pick out invitations?

I am getting married in May 2010 and my FI thinks it is too early to worry about it.

I think it depends on if you plan on printing them yourself, or having a company print/assemble them for you.  Since your wedding is 6 months away, and invitations typically go out 2 months ahead of time, I don't think you're too early to be looking at them.

Ditto PP. My wedding's in June 2010 and we're ordering them in a week or so. Part of it is for logistical reasons but mainly I just don't want to worry about it 4 months before the wedding! If you have time/money/energy, why not do it now?

Hi!  I'm also getting married in May 2010 and I am working with my graphic designer right now on the invitations.  I thought it was too early to start thinking about them, but now I realize they'll take a long time to assemble (my friend is doing the caligraphy, etc.), so I should start brainstorming now.  I am sending mine out 2 months in advance because 40% of my guests are from out of town.

    I hope this helps!

I'm also getting married in May 2010. My friend/BM and I are getting them done hopefully soon since I am DIY-ing them.

Sorry I didn't finish before it posted.
Basically its up to you when you want to get them done and how you want to do them. DIY or purchase? That usually helps determine timeline too. I've been looking around for ideas for months now. GL with the invites!
