Missouri-St Louis

help, need a reception hall

I have a hall booked for my reception, but we recently went to a wedding reception there and i was not impressed. I was unsure of the food and there is no way that even my whole family will fit comfortably. I need as many suggestions as I can, we have a very small budget. I am hoping to find a hall where we can bring our own caterer as I am hoping that going that route will be cheaper. We need a place that will hold 300-350 comfortably. Thanks! oh, our wedding is in april, but are learning to be flexible with the date, we are hoping for the 24th but are in a crunch.

ooh....that's not good.  Where was this at?  Is there a certain part of St. Louis you were looking for?

If you are willing to travel to the Illinois side of the river, I have a suggestion for you.  The Knights of Columbus hall in Cahokia is plenty large for what you are wanting.  We are having 275 and are going to have a ton of space still.  (we went and saw a setup for 350-400 and it was great)  You can bring your own caterer, cake baker, DJ, whatever you like.  We went with their food because it was the cheaper route, but we weren't looking for gourmet food either.  We just wanted good food that was typical midwest wedding fare.  (chicken, roast beef, veggies, potatoes, gravy, rolls, salad, etc.)  We paid $10.50 a person, but I think it's gone up a buck since then.  We got the entire hall for 7 hours (which is really long for a reception, we know LoL) with food for 275, fountain soda for the whole night, iced tea and coffee for the night, the first three half barrels of beer and security for the night in case anyone gets drunk and stupid.  It came out to $4900 including tax and gratuity.  That didn't include the cake, we decided to get that elsewhere.  We also got an ice sculpture and champagne for the head table included in that price.  All things considered, it saved us a TON of money.  Yeah, we could have gone fancier than we did, but why?  The reception is all about the party anyway and we knew that none of our family or friends were going to be impressed with $40 a plate food, they want to party and have a good time without feeling stuffy.  Hope this helps!

Also the Knights of Columbus in Collinsville is awesome...its fairly new which is a plus. I believe to rent the big hall that hold 400 people it was $1000. Which is not bad, you can bring your own caterer (we are having Bella Milano in Edwardsviile), and they have a full bar.

I know you wanted something that you can bring your own caterer but I'm having mine at Windows off Washington and its pretty much like all inclusive and i don't have a huge budget and I found that it is helping ALOT!! They have rooms to fit any size wedding!! I would at least check it out!

thank you so much for the help! I think that we are going to use the UAW hall in Fenton. It is $725 to rent. 60.00 for a cleanup fee so I dont have to worry about the cleanup either! Thanks and best of wishes to everyone!
