genesee county area knotties!!!

Hi Ladies!!!
I am from Flint-ish area and am starting to look for reception and ceremony venues. I'm thinkning ceremony will work best for our families in either frankenmuth or lapeer and a reception closer to home, in davison or grand blanc. But any place in the surrounding areas are a definate possibility! We are looking for something nicer than a vfw hall but doesn't have to be as ritzie as a country club. We are looking to bring in an outside caterer that we have found for cheap from Millington, and serve great food so we will need a place that allows this. If you know of any places that you think could work out for us I would love some pointers in the right direction.

Thanks for all your help ladies.
I am just getting started so I haven't had a chance to look at much yet!

There are a lot of nice places but not many will allow you to bring in your own caterer.  The facilities of U of M flint (northbank, pavillion) I think will alllow you to bring in your own caterer but for a surcharge.  Other than that, I was not able to find anywhere where you did not have to go with the on site catering.

I had my ceremony at the courtyard at sloan museum and it was awesome.  They charged $250 and that included all of the chairs and museum admission for all guests (gives them something to do between ceremony and reception).  They also will let you bring in caterers and do a reception there too, I saw pictures and it looked very nice, but we had our reception at Genesys Banquet Center.  You cannot bring in your own caterer, but I thought they had extremely reasonable pricing.  Let me know if you have any questions about Sloan or Genesys!

The flint institute of arts may let you bring in your own caterers too.

    Megan2002,

I am doing similar decor (charcoal and peacock blue with feather accents). I am still looking for a florist and baker that works in the Flint area.  Could you give contact info for the vendors you are using?

Iv heard about the sloan museum before, I think I will most definately look into that! What Genesys are you talking about, the athletic club in Grand Blanc? Either way, what did they charge for evrything, food, bar, ect.

Iv also heard about the flint northbank which I love!!!!!!!! But...a good friend of mine is having her reception there and has made a comment about howwe can't chose that because their already doing theirs there. =( I wan't to say that don't bother me but it kind of does. We really like that place. What do you ladies think about that? Do you think I should find some where else or would you still do yours there?

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate it!!!

I just thought of another one.  The Durant hotel's ballroom has been recently remodeled and reopened and its gorgeous.  I dont know about the catering requirements though, but the room is beautiful. As far as the event space, it outdoes Northbank.

adblanch :  For flowers I used Gayle Green in Henderson - She has been in business forever, she actually did flowers for my parent's wedding 30 years ago, she is very reasonably priced.  For my cake I used The Cake Artist, Deb Mell, out of Gaines.  Her cakes are not decorated all that fancy, but they taste unbelievable.  She works out of her home.

Style 2012:  Yes, the banquet center is attached to the athletic club.  I paid $19 per plate for food and $19 per person for mid level bar.  If you email Colene Eller celler@epochcatering.com  she will email you the full menu options with prices.  They also have a facebook page with quite a few pictures under Genesys Conference & Banquet Center
