Heyyo

Re: Heyyo

  • Speaking of working out, I still haven't tried my Wii Zumba.  I hope it's good.  Nathan wants to start working out at home, to cut down on the gym membership.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Heyyo : It's a pretty good show. It's crazy how many restaurants around the country have ridiculously large food items.

Is that what it's about?  Like, the guy has to eat the portion of the food that's served?  I can imagine that getting out of control.  Some restaurants are disgusting.

I really want to try that. Although, I'm hoping I'll start using my gym membership a lot more, seeing as how I can't afford NOT to.

Yeah, it definitely gets out of control. I have seen places serve like 20 pound burgers including the bun, and toppings. Another place had a donut the size of the guys head. It's interesting. Sometimes they do really spicy food too. I have seen him try chicken wings that the cook had to wear a gas mask to make because the chilies were so strong, no joke.

  • Ugh, that sounds gross, Kayla.  That would make me sick.  I can almost never finish a portion anywhere--I always eat half there and then three or four hours later I'm hungry and I'll eat the rest.

CCF--I hope it's good.  I like cardio dancing workouts, so it seems like it would be up my alley.
  • Yeah, like I said I can't believe how many restaurants actually do that sort of thing. Their portions are already 2-4 servings. One of the challenges he was just doing required eating multiple 1lb+ burgers, and I think they said 42,000 people had tried doing it. There are some crazies out there.

I have done Zumba one time, and it was fun. It was also 2 am after 3 or 4 margaritas and I was with a friend who teaches it at the gym. I may or may not have been doing it right.

  • Jeez that's a lot of food.

I keep hearing rave reviews about Zumba, so when we saw it for Wii, we figured we'd try it.  Nathan hasn't been hitting the gym that often with the holidays, weather, etc, and he's a workout fiend, so he wants something to do at home. He's even willing to try my pilates DVD :P.
  • I have a love/hate relationship with pilates. It's such a good core strength workout though. My friend who teaches the Zumba also does some pilates and hip hop workout classes. Unfortunately she is out of state, or I might be in better shape.

  • I use Denise Austin's DVD.  I find that people either love her or hate her, but it feels like a good workout to me.  I would love to take a hip-hop dance workout.
  • I will have to look into her DVD's. I have only ever done the random pilates that my cable has On Demand. It does seem like they are kind of a hit or miss type of deal. It's hard finding good cardio workouts for me too. I just can't follow half of them and it ends up frustrating me.

  • Yeah, I hate that. Some people complain that Denise doesn't really give enough instruction, but I find her easy to follow and a great beginner's workout, but challenging enough to really feel like you're working out.

I tried one of the DVDs from the Dancing with the Stars instructors and they suck at giving instruction.  The workout was intense, but I was always confused about what I should be doing.
  • I have this Dance Off Fat Fast DVD. I end up improvising through like half of it. I figure that fact that I am moving for 50 minutes straight has got to count for something.

My favorite workout DVD is 30 Day Shred but I know some people are not a fan of Jillian Michaels. It was awesome after DS was born though, it got me back down to pre-baby weight so quickly.

Ha, that's how I think, too.

I've always wanted to try Jillian Michaels because I've heard a lot of good things.  We can get it for Wii, too, so that's a plus.

Okay, I'm hitting bed.  Thanks for the recs!
  • Yeah! Thanks for the rec for pilates.

    Have a good night.
