Starting to think about changing ceremony site...Thoughts?

Ok, so my wedding isnt until May of next year... We booked out ceremony at Mill Race Village in Downtown Northville and the place is absolutely beautiful but I just purchased my wedding dress and my train is super long and no one will really be able to see it...so I was thinking about maybe looking for a church (like i originally wanted) but Im not a member of any...Would am I changing the ceremony site for a silly reason? and if im not any ideas where we could possibly find a church that does not require you to be a member? My reception is in Livonia.

Depending on the size of your guest list, there is a non-denominational church at Greenmead Village in Livonia where we had our ceremony. It's a mid-1800's chapel, you have to bring in your own officiant. But it's lovely. You can go to my bio link below, then "vendor" tab on the bio page, and the info on Greenmead is in there. I *think* renting just the chapel is about $300-$400 for non-members, not sure. But the grounds are BEAUTIFUL for picture purposes. You can see all the photographer's pictures via my website as well.

    Good luck.
  • I am honestly in the same boat and was going to post this exact post almost. Our reception is in Canton, and we were planning on using their outdoor gazebo, the more I think about it, I think it would be a lot easier and I am having some regrets already about not getting married in a church. We are also not members of a church, but are looking for suggestions in the Livonia/Northville/Plymouth/Canton area that allow non members to marry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Look into the Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington.

  • Nardin Park in Farmington Hills will work with you too. Beautiful stained glass everywhere!
  • St. Michael Lutheran in Canton (on the corner of Sheldon and Warren) does not require you to be a member.
