Need Recommendations for Affordable Bridal Salons

Any recommendations for affordable bridal salons other than David's Bridal?  My budget is around $1,000 including alterations.  I've tried to do some research online and here on the knot, but there are so many options! And most websites aren't very helpful when you need to know the price ranges of the dresses they carry.

Anyone have thoughts on Elizabeth's Bridal Manor in Northville, Bridal Magic in Canton, I Do Too Bridal in Plymouth, Unique Lady in Oak Park, Allure Bridal Salon in Livonia, Diane's Dream Brides in Livonia, or Dior Brial in Dearborn?

Also - my mom is coming from out of town and will only be able to come for one day. I'd really love to be able to pick "the dress" while she's here.  How many places should we plan on visiting and how long should we plan for each appointment?

Thanks!

  • I have heard nothing but good about all places you've mentioned. My mom got her dress at Dior and loves it. I got my dress at Bella Donna, which used to be in wyandotte and now is in riverview had to relocate because of a fire. There is a place in dearborn heights also called Miracle Wedding Village. I got my niece her jr. Bridesmaid dress there. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but they do have some very nice dresses, especially since you are on a budget. I did not even attempt davids bridal, but I know some women have great luck there.

Thanks!  My fiance's aunt also mentioned Miracle Wedding Village.  She got her dress there when she married in the mid-90's and she wondered if it was still around! I'll check it out.
  • Honestly, most major dress salons should have dresses to fit that price range. I would recommend going to demetrios in Troy but only if you get to work with Kaleen (kayleen). she is awesome. my dress came to a little more than that with alterations but I added a belt and changed the neckline on top of the length so my alterations were a little expensive. She wouldn't even let me look at dressed over my budget unless I promised it was ok...very professional.
  • I Do Too! They have lots of stuff in your price range!

  • I second I Do Too!.  I didn't get my dress there, but only because they didn't have it. Great service.  I'd say that if this is your first time trying on dresses give yourself a couple of hours, probably at each place and I don't think I'd try to do to more then two or three places.  Also my family is from out of town and I've been able handle it by taking pictures and ask the places about if they support having your parents "skype" into fittings... My parents "skyped" into the first time I had my dress on and it was so special.
  • i think i will be  going with arena bridal in shelby bc they have free alterrations
