different type of hall

Hey all! So I am having difficulty in my searches for basic halls. I have a high ppl count of 250300 and am looking more for a hall that I can bring in all my own stuff. The tplex is unavailable big big sadface! So any help would be appreciated! I am in ferndale but am searching in Wayne and Oakland counties mostly.

  • 250 to 300 guests I mean!!! Hahaha
  • This is a pretty frequent question these days. There is a "pinned" thread at the top of this board with the sites many brides have used, or are using.

Also, a few threads below is another, not sure if you read it. If  you go here, there are tons of venues mentioned in downtown Detroit. This bride has done all the leg work, and there were places on here I'd never heard of. There is one huge empty space on it, not sure if it's still available, I think this blog was a couple of years ago.

If you go to this link directly, it's all the venues:

Good luck. Based on the few years I've spent on this board, I think finding a "bring your own" venue for a wedding that size will be difficult unless you are willing to have it outdoors in tents somewhere that doesn't worry about insurance. Generally anything big enough to house that many people will want control of the food & alcohol. But, new places pop up from time to time, so maybe someone has a recommendation.
  • I dont really have any suggestions, Im just not familiar with those areas, but good luck in your search!

  • I agree with Sue that finding a bring your own spot will be hard for that size.

I recently married at the Detroit Yacht Club and their ballroom can accommodate that size, but you have to work with their chef, etc. You can bring in your own linens/chairs (though they have some if you prefer), so there's that. I don't know about tables/lighting/etc. They seemed pretty accommodating though, aside from the food.

We received a lot of compliments on our venue so while it sort of has the "hall" feel, it's unique enough that it's not like every other banquet center. In fact, my SIL who frequents a Macomb County banquet hall for weddings said she'll never look at it the same way after experiencing the yacht club.

  • I do not know if Novi is in your range but the Novi Civic Center does wedding recetptions and there is a kitchen there so you can make your own food or hire a caterer.

    Best of luck Smile

  • Hi...I know the Wixom Community Center allows you to bring in your own catering and alcohol.  Also St Mary's Cultural Center in LIvonia allows you to bring in your own alcohol and it's definitely big enough.  I've been to a ton of weddings there and it's really nice.  Good luck!
