Crate & Barrel Registry Event - any tips?

Has anyone attended one of their Sunday registry events? I'm curious to see if it'll match my hopes (free breakfast and thoughts of running around the store trying to decide on stuff) or if we'll be escorted around the store by an employee who will try to convince us to register for more we want. Any helpful registering tips?

We went to an event last month at the Burlington store and it was very nice. At first you go in and someone will great you and take you around the store to show you what is in each section and then at that point they will either show you how to start your registry if you have not already or will bring you to a cashier to give your personal scanner. After you and your FI will have free rein of the store to do what you wish. We were there for almost 2 hours and never once felt pressured by any employee, they are around the store mostly to answer any questions you guys may have. We enjoyed the process of registering and def liked having the store to ourselves with only a few other couples. Have a great time and enjoy every minute!!!

basically, dito acollupy.  We thought it was fun and didn't feel overly pressured.  They demo different equipment but you don't have to watch the demos if you don't want.  They had a fair amount of food at ours, but I heard from a friend recently that the one she went to was less well catered.  We went to the Boylston St store about 6 months ago, and they had pastries, fruit platters, mimosas, smoothie samples, pancake samples, etc.  Plus we got heart-shaped glass candy dish for free.  (My friend also got the free gift, but less food.  She went to a different store though.)

We went to one over the winter when we registered- it was very nice.  The employees kind of show you around in the beginning and show you how to use the scanner, there is a little bit of food, and most importantly, there are mimosas ;)  We enjoyed some of the demos (they sold us on the blender they were demoing- it's awesome), and it was nice to be able to walk around the store and scan items without it being too crowded.  I didn't really feel like we were being pressured at all.  It's definitely worth checking out.

DH and I attented 2 while we were engaged :-)  We first went to Boylston St. to set up our registry before our e-party.  They had great food and drinks, and we had a blast.  The second one was to flesh out the registry pre-shower (I double-checked when reserving a spot that we could attend twice).  The second time we went to the Burlington store, and there was a lot less food, but other than that it was the same.As a side note, we ended up with 2 heart shape glass bowls, and we used them as mint bowls for the bathrooms at our reception.Have fun!

I'm totally butting in, but thanks for all the great reviews of the C&B events, ladies! I made FI read this thread and now he's all geared up for registering! lol

Thanks for all the comments ladies! We just got back from the event from the C&B at Chestnut Hill and it was as you described - they had different food stations with OJ, coffee, coffee cake, paninis, pancakes and sausage. FI loved the panini station! It was very low key, we were given instructions on the scanner and just left to wander the store. I highly recommend doing it, as it was so nice to have time to look at everything and make decisions on what to scan. Now I'm curious to see if the Macy's registry event is just as nice, although that takes place on a Tuesday night.

Do they have these events frequently throughout the year?  I live near the Boylston street store and I see that they have them every 2 weeks or so through the middle of October.  Our wedding isn't until next July so it is too early to register.  I just hope they have some in November or December too!

BostonBecky2010, I can't remember the exact schedule that was offered but I believe it was two Sundays in Oct and perhaps one in November? I don't think it's too early to register at all, in fact, our wedding is October 2010 but we chose to register now since people were asking us and it'll be good to have it ready for any engagement parties and even Christmas gift ideas!

Ooh I just remembered that we attended a registry event at W&S, too!  (we are such suckers for free snacks).  It was on a week night at the Copley Place store and they had wine and snacks.  The free gift was a bride and groom cookbook.
