Tuxes

When is an appropriate time to go to Mens' Wearhouse and choose the tuxes for the bridal party? Also, does anyone have another affordable option for tuxes or is MW it?  We're hoping to keep the tuxes around $150-200.

We got out tuxes at Rene's in Leominster, they had the best tuxes at great prices. Its a family business and they deliver the tuxes to you on Wed night and pick them up after the wedding - so convenient! We are paying $145 including shoes and everything. HTH!

Just got back from MW! We choose a really nice tux that came with everything (including socks) for $158! And if you want to go with a heavier weight they are even less - I think like $138 or something. And they were very nice and super helpful!! Good luck!!

There's also Classic Tuxedo. I've also heard good things about Jim's Formal Wear.

Time-wise, you can go whenever to pick it all out. With MW, everyone needs to be fit within 2 weeks of the wedding or they assess a $15 late fee (think that's the right $ amount) to the person being fit, so you want to give them enough time. Why we chose MW is, we had a few men from OOT and they have stores everywhere for fitting purposes. They'll all p/u their tuxes here though.

MW recommends at least a month's notice. Tuxes usually arrive to pick up location 2-3 days before the wedding. For the dads, brothers & readers, we ordered black peak lapel tuxes, black bowtie, white shirt. I think it was about $189 per person.

I seem to remember that MW wanted all the guys fit 6 weeks before, and penalized you for fitting fewer than 4 weeks before. So you want to choose the tuxes aby the 10 week mark, I would say, so that you have a month to start poking all of your groomsmen and telling them to go get fitted. Our tuxes from MW were $150--you should have no trouble keeping it in that range. There are other stores in the same price range. The main benefit for MW from our perspective, is that we had men in 5 cities who we needed to coordinate with, and MW made the coordination super easy. However, the service the gentlemen got varied a lot by store. The Boylston store in Boston we ordered from was fantastic, but they had to fix the mistakes and bad service my father-in-law got from the store in Long Island.

Speaking of tuxes, does anyone know any place where you can rent suits?  We don't want to force our guys to buy suits but I don't want to do tuxes for the wedding!  Any advice?
