Show me... (XP)

the knife set you registered for. This is the one thing that we haven't registered for because we can't decide what we want...

I don't even know what we registered for.  I am not much of a cook so I left it up to the FI.  We registered (I Think) for the Wusthof set from Crate and Barrel.  I gave him the scanner and I went to look at bedding.

FI wants Shun, but I think we are going to settle on Wusthof.

We did an 8 piece Wusthoff Classic.  But quite honestly, I could have done with a single chef's knife!

When we were at the C&B registering party, FI spent most of the time at the knife demo haha. We registered for a Shun bread knife, Shun tomato knife and Shun 6 piece block set. Then we registered for a Wusthof steak knife block set. Yes, we will have a lot of knives haha. Hey, if it makes him happy..

Shun Classic knife block.  Best wedding gift EVER! I use it every night and cuts everything like butter.  LOVE IT.  The chef's knife and the bread knife impress me every time I take them out.

You should go to a store and try the knives though.  It's one think to talk about them, and another to actually chop a vegetable with it.  They let us demo all of them at the C&B registry event I went to, and that is when I decided I preferred the Shun to any other brand they were selling.  Any good kitchen store should let you demo them though.  I've heard Sur la Table is great about this too, but I haven't tried it.

We haven't registered yet, but FIs parents gave us a set of knives for an engagement present. They're the Henckels Professional S series, I believe. It's an 8-piece set.

We registered for the Wusthof Classic Ikon set - I liked the feel of them a lot better than the Wusthof Classic knives.  We also registered for the Wusthof Stainless Steel 8-piece steak knife set...

On advice of a couple other brides, I just registered for a really nice chef's knife, a mid-range bread knife, and a paring knife (all Wustoff).

We registered for the Wusthof Classic 14-Piece Cutlery Set at Macy's.  It got good reviews.  You can't go wrong with Wusthof or Henkels.

Another Wusthof fan here, but we bought the knives ourselves off Amazon a few years back (actually, FI bought them for me as a birthday present!).  We got the Culinar line, which I tried out at WS but they no longer seem to have in store.  I love it, was the most comfortable.  I have the santuku chef's knife which I use the most, came with a santuku shaped paring knife. T hen I bought a set with a huge chef's knife (too big for me but FI likes it), a slicer knife (good for certain tasks) and another paring.  I definitely use the santuku and paring knives the most.

Agree with PP, try them out in store and you'll know which one fits your hand and feels the most comfortable.  WS let us do this without a special event (hold them, not actually chopping stuff).  And don't feel like you need a LOT of knives (unless you want them).  Invest in a few quality knives and you will be happy.

We didn't register for a set but only a chef knife (Shun 8" Chef knife) and a paring knife (also Shun).  I don't want too many knives... lol
