Vendor responses

How long is too long for a vendor to get back to you?  I emailed my venue coordinator last Tuesday and still haven't heard back.  I'm not sure if that's normal or not, but it seems long to me.  All my other vendors get back to me in 2 days max, or at least say that they're swamped and when they can get back to me.  This vendor always seems to take days and days.  I'm not sure if I'm just spoiled with the other vendors, or what. 

I'm kind of irritated, because I waited until November to send my questions, since I figured the very busy wedding season was over.  I know some vendors are better with phone calls, but I feel  like we are paying them so much money that I should be able to use email, since that is most convenient for me.  Plus I like the idea of having things in writing.

IMO 6 days is a long time to wait for a response from the Venue especially.
I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt though so maybe they are having email problems or something. Maybe you could just give a call and say I emailed you some questions when you have a chance could you email me back the answers.
I know I prefer email as well.. I actually HATE talking on the phone so it annoys me when people don't respond to my emails but hopefully a prompting phone call will get you a response.

My venue coordinator actually ignored my emails (and DH's emails) for 3 weeks. Thankfully, I work at our venue, and after a voice mail, and telling her assistant to physically find her and get back to me, she responded. It was ridiculous. Most of my other vendors got back to me the same day, if not the next day. Did you call or email? If you emailed, I'd suggest giving them a call maybe?

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to call. It's just the principal of the thing.  I'm pretty sure it's not email problems since this is kind of a trend.  I think I'm grumpy today haha!

First of all, miss ya girl!  I feel like you haven't been around much.

This totally made me crazy, especially when most of our vendors responded within hours.  The few that took a few days seemed very unprofessional by comparison, despite providing fabulous services otherwise.  I do not expect vendors to be at my constant beck and call, but if I am contacting you during business hours, I would expect a response in 48 hours maximum.  I found that sending another email saying something like "Hi Vendor, I emailed you 6 days ago and haven't heard from you, so I am a little concerned.  Just want to make sure you received my message" blah blah blah.  Calling always worked as well, but I also hate talkign on the phone and would prefer things in writing as well.  GL! HTH!

That is frustrating! I think each vendor should respond within 3 days, IMO.I would forward your original email and write- "Any update?" That worked for me with a vendor that pulled that same no response card.

Just to check, have you corresponded by email before?  If not, your email might have hit their spam filter (that has happened to me before).  So definitely call and make sure they got your email.  if you have before, then yeah, you need to call anyway.  Some people do not respond to email, which is VERY annoying.  Going through this with both my photog and my venue as well.  Seriously!!!  How can you run a business like this?

I know this is not a good example but it seems to take my vendor 2 weeks to reply to emails and she doesn't think anything of it.  I expect to vendors to reply within 3 business days.  In reality, I get antsy if I don't hear from them within a day.  I think as vendors, they should check their email at least once a day, and they should reply to emails promptly, but that isn't the case for the most part.

I also dislike vendors who insist on talking on the phone. I HATE it when I email them with questions and then they wrote back saying "call me". If I wanted to talk to them on the phone, I'd have called!  I actually didn't go for vendors who prefers phone, because I prefer emailing.  It's just so much more convenient for me.

Thanks girls!  I have emailed her before , so it definitely goes through.

One of the things I asked about was the ceremony chairs.  They are supposed to be provided by the venue, and when we booked, we were shown a slide show with white wooden garden chairs.  Well, I saw an updated slide show with white metal folding chairs and I HATE them.

That is so frustrating....and unprofessional....just my 2cents. I expect a phone call back the next business day, unless its a weekend. Sorry to hear that she is not getting back to you.

Our vendors responed within 24-48 hours. I think I may have been spoiled but I honestly feel that 24-48 hours is perfectly acceptable! Anything less is not so good.
