Videography Pricing

Anybody have any ideas on what the normal pricing is for wedding videography? I didn't have one for my wedding but am helping a friend w/ her wedding but have no concept of what the cost associated it with would be.

My videographer offered three different packages, depending on how many hours of coverage you wanted, and how many DVD sets you wanted, and if you wanted blu-ray.

We chose his "silver" package, which includes coverage of me getting ready, our "first look", formal photos, ceremony, receiving line and 2 hours into the reception and cocktail hour. It comes with 2 DVD sets (not blu-ray) and the cost was $1200.

He was the only person I considered because he does a PHENOMENAL job, but I think that is pretty standard.
His website is folstervideo.com if you are interested in checking him out!

Videos can start at $600-700 and they just go up from there.

I think for a nicely edited video in HD on BluRay, you will probably pay between $1000 and $2000.  You can get it done for less, especially if you don't care about HD (although I wouldn't recommend it, since you want it to last) but the quality probably won't be as good.

Just like everyone else said the prices will vary. I've been looking into videographers as well. I actually was googling about planning my wedding and this videography company called McElryo Films has a blog that answers quetsions of to be brides. They start at $2,000 but they have HD packages, raw footage. Really if you want good quality work you're going to have to pay  more. Other people I found were about $500 but the quality was terrible and I read reviews on them and people were very disappointed.

Do your homework! Read reviews and read up on whatever people you're looking into.

I guess it jus depends on how important you think remembering your wedding day is. I mean it's one of the most important day of my life so videography and photography is vital!

I've been doing some research lately also, and I have also found things to vary quite a bit. To be fair, I have heard great reviews of videographers in all price ranges.

One videographer, Rebecca Curtis, has the cheapest packages I've found (around $400 for the most basic), and the samples she sent me were super basic/no frills. I think she would be a good option if you're looking for basic/no frills (and no HD)  but want your wedding on video. curtisweddings.com

Jeff Brouillet's work makes me salivate, but starts at $5,000 and he's largely booked for 2012 and is booking into 2013 right now. He would be awesome, but if we wanted him, we'd need to find 5K and have our wedding a year later! His work is more cinematic, HD, film-y and edited. It really varies!

Most often, I've found that videographers are charding a little more than $2,000-$2,500.

We haven't settled on the videography yet, but the HD videography is so nice, it would be great! Good luck searching!
