[QUOTE]Remember when Nintendo came out with the power pad? Man, that was like...huge.

My cousin and I would get up at 5:30 in the morning on weekends because we wanted to play power pad. Our parents would get so pissed because the house would shake.
I always had such a hard time beating that Cheetah!

But on the long jump, if you jumped off the side of the pad instead of forward, and then just pressed your foot down right before you fell on your ass, you went really far. The kids I babysat had one and I used to let them play until they dropped.

  • Luckily for me, I haven't any photos of me looking like that, but rest assured, it did happen.  How about when everyone was doing the grunge rock thing?  I had a pixie cut (not a good look for me):

Or, the no plucked eyebrows from high school.

Oh yes, I was the queen of the side jump!

Was the robot that came with the original NES already mentioned?

I always wanted an Easy Bake oven.  I hear the food was awful, but i was still jealous.
  • I'm usually a lurker round these parts but I had two that I can't believe weren't brought up yet....

The Tamogotchi (sp?) toy that everyone had and was subsequently banned from school because people were feeding their pet instead of paying attention in science.

    The Shirt Clip!

  • Look at cute, young Amoro :)
  • I remember when Pong came out. Seriously.

    SpinArt

    Panama Jack long sleeve teeshirts.

PunkRock day at school meant you wore safety pins for earrings (for the love of all things holy, I don't know why) and trash bags.

Reagan getting shot, Ford being shot at (by a Manson family member), looking at the pictures in Helter Skelter when my aunt fell asleep on our trip to the beach.

I wasn't allowed to watch Three's Company, either.

I remember Roseanne Rosannadanna, Lisa Lupner, and Emily Litella and all of Gilda Radner's other characters from SNL. She was awesome.

Puffalumps. I was in high school/college, but I wanted one really bad.

  • And the t-shirt clip...oh yes.  I never actually had one, but I thought it was cool to wear that, brightly colored leggings and huge socks.

Maybe with those Bass or Eastland loafers!
  • I wore my Coca-Cola jersey shirt until it died.

Never needed a perm but still slept on the foam rollers. Talk about big hair! (no pics, sorry).

I sported one of the Swatch watches with the changeable plastic rings.

...Fruit Striped gum with the zebra?

    ...Mathnet.

...watching Dirty Dancing with my mom and feeling all tingly in my tummy when Johnny and Baby did the dirty dance.

...when old school Sesame Street wasn't considered "mature viewing".

...Watching Ren and Stimpy on Saturday morning
...Getting Ranger Rick and My Big Backyard magazines in the mail
...Being able to play outside all day and all night while everyone's parents sat on their porches and babysat the whole neighborhood, and swimming in the neighborhood stream without worrying about the green pollution that now floats on the surface
