For those of you who say it's slow

Are you using IE or Firefox?

I noticed some are complaing about slowness loading.  I'm using Firefox and it's really fast, as fast as it used to be in the old format.  I just went to IE to see Sco's poll and noticed that on IE the board was VERY slow and difficult to load.  So I was curious what you're using if you're having problems.

Re: For those of you who say it's slow

  • IE....I have firefox at home and to be honest I don't think it was moving all that much faster.  I only have IE at work, but we do have the newest version, 7.0 I think

I WANT to use firefox but the graying out of read posts isn't working but it does in IE so I am using that instead.

ETA: I do find it to be slower in IE.

  • IE and it's very slow for me. It seems to be better at home, but not much.
  • I've tried both and they are equally as painful. I only have IE at work, though. But I was on firefox this morning and it was no different.

  • I notice a definite difference using Firefox.  I was able to download it at work - for those at work.  It helps a lot.
  • I knot at work too and was able to download Firefox.  If you can, I would recommend it.  It's seriously faster, for me anyway.

Why is there a difference?  I don't know anything about this stuff.

  • IE and super slow. Firefox here I come.

  • I can't download things at work, so I'm stuck with IE, but I wasn't impressed with Firefox, either, so there's that.

  • I can't download stuff at work either but some reason it let me download Firefox.  I can't download the lasted Adobe flash update though, so when I'm in Firefox I can't see the polls people post.  :(

This is for me as well.  Although I was able to see Sco's poll this morning.  But, I'm sure it was a fluke.
  • Dani - are the posts that you read graying out in firefox?

  • IE, but can't download anything to the computers at work, so I guess I'm stuck.  This also means that I can't download any ad blockers either.  Sucks

FYI - it took me about 8 minutes to load/reload/reload this page in order to post.

    Yeah it's working for me.

  • IE, and can't downoad Firefox at work. I'll get the hubs to do it for me at home, though. Thanks for the tip, Dani.
  • Eh, I did the ad blocker thing and it really doesn't help or change anything.  I mean it might make one or two ads on the side go away, but the board is still the same size so there's really not much point.

  • I'm using Firefox, but don't have the Adobe plugin or whatever so I can't see the polls either.  The greying out of read posts seems to be working correctly.
  • That's bizarre. It is not working for me. I think Firefox updated last week sometime. I have version 3.5.5

It only grays out the sticky at the top of the board.

  • Firefox is faster and makes everything smaller.
  • DOOD! It let me download firefox. WTH?

  • I'm using firefox. It's not that slow, it's just everything around the actual posts loads first, then the posts.

  • I wonder why it didn't matter from my home computer, but from here, it's faster than old P&E, even. WTF?

    Hmmm...

Yay!  And that was my reaction when my work computer let me download it too.  There must be something different about the way it downloads.

  • Vally - when you open a post, are you clicking on the post title, or the time the last post was made? If you are doing the latter, it won't gray out the post title - you'll have to select Mark All As Read before you go back to the main page for that to happen.  It also won't gray out if you just hit the Back button on your browser,  have to click on the Etiquette link on the left side or top of the page (or refresh after you go back)

  • Actually, I must admit. E in Firefox is the shiznizzle.
  • Yay!!  I'm so glad I posted this.

I'm clicking the post title. It works in IE but not in Firefox. I even just uninstalled and reinstalled FF. Oh well I will just sort by most recent reply...
    Thanks though.
