GOOOOOOOD MORNING!

Re: GOOOOOOOD MORNING!

• I'm sorry, I just CANNOT take anyone on that show seriously when they are singing. It totally ruined my opinion on Hunt. I liked him, but now he sang and he looks like a tool.

Oh, and I think Teddy is the biggest bitch. Yang stole her thunder and now Teddy is being all "bitch, why can't you learn from me?!"

• Every July, Alexandria celebrates the 4th of July a week late. They call it the "Alexandria Day festival" because I guess Alexandria has a similar founding date to the nation as a whole? I like to think it's for those of us who just can't be bothered to squish down into the crowds on the Mall on the 4th, but who still love fireworks. Anyway, it's on the Potomac, it's an all day thing with carnival food, etc. They have a live orchestra that plays through the fireworks, but my favorite part is when they play the 1812 orchestra because the Marines are there and they actually shoot off cannons. It's fabulous. We go every year- you should come with us this year! We get there a little early usually cause it does fill up, bring some wine and snacks, spread out a picnic blanket and just enjoy.

[QUOTE]Good morning ladies! Cfaz, I'm sorry to hear you are sick. Please get better! And also, just keep telling yourself that Spring is on its way... eventually. I thought about going down to the fireworks tomorrow, but Southeast? At night? In the cold? Meh. I'll wait for the Alexandria festival in July- that's way better. Babestate, I am beyond impressed with how much work you are giving to your new abode. Just thought I'd throw that out there. My boss is a real prankster, I'm sure she has something up her sleeve today. "Fun." Last night I was out with a work function and I took a gulp of what I thought was my ginger ale and it was actually someone's Jim Beam and Coke. Aint gonna lie, that was tasty.

Manda! Southeast isn't that bad! Really I promise! You almost definitely won't get mugged, at least I haven't yet. Though UPS and USPS have determined my neighborhood is too sketchy for package delivieries.

Anyway, Cfas, that sucks they want to do cherry blossom stuff tomorrow. I went last weekend and it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good either. I was just very determined to get pictures. And fireworks...ugh. I hate fireworks at the best of times, you couldn't pay me to stay outside and see them tomorrow night. My MOH's sister is in town though, and they're doing all that kind of stuff tomorrow so I might get dragged into some of it anyway.

Oh, and good morning everyone!
• HAPPY FRIDAY!! I haven't read all this yet...but good morning. =)

I'm off to make a bowl of grits and enjoy them at my desk as I enjoy this thread. Don't get too exciting without me.
• anna, I think "You almost definitely won't get mugged" should be the new Southeast motto. :-) I didn't mean to offend, though! I've just never felt particularly safe down there.
• I'm taking "in-process" pictures (unfortunately with my cell phone since my camera charger is missing and I can't find the stupid thing). But yes, I will post some when it's done :D

Well I live west of Eastern Market and I always feel pretty safe, there are always tons of Capitol Police everywhere. But east of that...yeah not so much. One of my good friends lives down past Harris Teeter and her roommate actually did get mugged and had to spend the night at the ER. So your concerns are valid.
• Cool! We've always thought the festival would be fun with more people. Yay!

I feel like this weather has washed out the color on the cherry blossoms this year. It's a bummer.
• Fishy, I'm going to assume, since it's April 1st you're totally joking about hating grits. Because grits = awesome.
• Do you know that I've never been to Eastern Market? True story. I've been in the area, but never to the actual market. Do you ever go there? We should try to make a Saturday date when the weather gets better. If the weather ever gets better.

I'm afraid I have to ditto that.

It's 9 am and M's here with both babies. They arrived last night and just left to spend the morning at the Children's Museum of NY. Although I'm not quite sure what a one and a two year old will do there. The Wizard of Oz exhibit is there though.

I doubt any of you hve seen me on this early in the morning.
• I'm with you on the grits thing Fishface. Yuck.

I really wish I could teleport up to DC. Seriously.

• Grits are yummy, especially cheese grits. Mmmm, grits.

I wish we had a million festivals like you do in DC. I would love to live there just for the stuff to do, but I'd hate the traffic like whoa.

Yes! I do! Eastern Market is fun. Since I guess a margarita gtg is probably out for you now we should do We The Pizza and Eastern Market when (if) it gets warm.

Don't feel bad about never going though, I never went until I lived on this side of town. I generally don't go anywhere outside of walking distance so I only know DC in small bubbles surrounding where I've lived.
