  • Stacks, I was able to see it and it doesn't bother me. 1) I technically am obese, but I've lost 30 pounds recently which is a HUGE accomplishment and I'm really happy about it. It probably took more willpower than that person has ever summoned for anything. 2) I'm not a vegan, so clearly that person isn't too observant.

But thanks for your concern. *hug*

  • Mery, I saw that and I thought "Someone obviously doesn't know what "morbidly obese" means.  I am very glad to know that the post doesnt' bother you - and, congrats on the 30 lbs.

FWIW, H is technically obese, too - he was headed toward "morbidly obese," and lost almost 40 lbs so far.  He says he aspires to be merely "overweight."  Also FWIW, I think you're pretty damn hot.

Screw the callout poster.  Ignorant and mean - what a combination!

To be honest, weight IS one thing that bothers me. I'm sort of surprised this doesn't, but I guess I have it in my head that the call out site is too ridiculous to bother with. If someone here said it to me or said it to my face, I'd probably be upset. I'd also be much more upset if I hadn't been going to the gym 5 times a week for the last 7 months. But it's kind of like, "well, I guess the joke's on them."

Thanks OWN! I'm 5'5" and I honestly think I'd be fine with being around 160, which is just to one side of "overweight." Technically, I could be like 130 and be in a healthy weight range, but I don't see that ever happening. I've been curvy for as long as I can remember. And at 160 with some good muscle tone, I'll probably be around a size 10, which works for me. I'm a 16 now, down from an 18/20, which is hardly that far out of the average range.

I'm very late to this I realize. In the OP, she just posted the picture, no explanation. I thought she was putting up some weird random TTD pic. I was going to say something really bad about it like "How long has it been since she got laid? Why does she looked so pissed and frumpy?" Then she later explained it was an actual picture of herself. I'm kinda glad I didn't say anything mean, but dayum, it's not a good picture.

    Thank you!

Salt, I did tell a girl that caesar salad wasn't vegetarian on chit chat the other day and got a barrage (and by that I mean 2) snarky comments about how no one had EVER heard of caesar salad/dressing having anchovies. But chit chat's not really smart enough to figure out how to submit things to KPS callouts.

If you post enough you're bound to piss some people off.

Weight is a low-blow, though. What's the line? I can lose weight but you'll always be an asshole?

  • Between Mery and Whit's callout, I feel like the poster(s) were more just trying to get a rise out of people and getting their call outs talking about than really feeling this way.

I mean 1) I've never seen Mery be mean to anyone. Ever. Same with Whit. And 2) Whit's FG dress looks like what a little girl would wear to a birthday party. NOT what a prostitute would wear on the street corner. I think they were really trying on that one and failed miserably.

[QUOTE]A lot of us have nice little splurges in our wedding and/or spent more than we ever imagined on one outfit for one day or on an open bar or on our shoes or whatever. But when someone constantly reminds you that their ring is CARTIER and they own more manolos than they can count and their dress is Vera Wang and they're paying to fly 80 people to their wedding in Crete, then you're being tacky. It's AWish. (Especially when you mention the label of everything you buy. Tiffany toasting flutes!!!!) Rolling my eyes at that is not out of jealousy, I assure you. I love when people AW their designer shoes or whatever, but there's a difference between that and HAVING to pay crap tons of money for EVERYTHING because cheap is just SO not your thing.

Am I defensive?  Yes I grew up most of my childhood defending myself from people who hated that I had money.  Girls in the school yard who hated me used to say I had to buy friends.  Its a touchy subject for me and it hurts.

You seem unnecessarily defensive aprov.  This is a message board with 400 different opinions.  Some of them will agree with you, some of them won't.  The people here didn't make fun of you as a child, and they had nothing to do with your upbringing.  The level of anger here is just odd and feels very misplaced.   You have to learn to brush things off.
