Re: Bizarre names

  • I just chalked it up to him having parents who wouldn't consider the vile things that kids think up. Poor guy. It seems like a perfectly natural name until a bunch of ninth graders get ahold of it.
  • I used to babysit boys with all last name first names (and middle names too!)...Burke, O'Hara, McGraw, and Kennedy.  Burke and Kennedy maybe...O'Hara only makes me think of Scarlett. And Fa-Molly (Female) people...the person next to my mom did that when she was in the hospital giving birth to me.  She told me then whole time she was thinking, "noooo dont do that to your kid!"

  • When I worked in AR, one of my billing contacts was named Aphasia. Google it. I was already familiar with the word when he told me his name, so I had to very quickly turn a laughing fit into a coughing fit in an effort to remain professional.

  • My friend wanted to name her daughter Abcde (prounounced Absidie). She ended up naming her Aria. She just had a son, and wanted to spell his name K-den. They spell it Kden. Still not great, but seriously, who puts a dash in their child's first name?

  • I have a friend who taught a girl named Fluffy Wilmerding.  My cousin also graduated med school (I was there-SWEAR it's true) with a woman named Snow White.  She went into pediatrics.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
