She's asking people on here, and they will only be able to tell her how they worked for them. From what I gathered from this thread, that is all she was looking for. So she has some idea of what worked for other people before she goes to talk to a professional.

• Thanks, Salt. Hmmm...I posted looking for advice. What did I get? I found someone in the medical field to give me some advice. Looks like I got what I was asking for...

Well, I did give you info. And I corrected some of your misconceptions about their indications. I warned you about potential drug interactions. And I saved you time discussing with your doctor things that are not viable options in your current situation. And I still get sh!t for it.

I know student health insurance sucks, but is there anyway it will cover a session with an actual psychiatrist and not just your md? Sometimes you have to go through a session with an outpatient therapist first, but in my experience it's worth it. Someone who specializes in psych meds is going to have a lot more answers, and probably more patience, that the regular doctor.

• I don't believe I had any misconceptions about the drugs. See, you're proving my point. I came here asking for personal experiences and to gather a little information so I could better speak to my doctor. I appreciate the information you gave me about dosage and it not being a maitenace drug. I wasn't giving you sh!it about the information you gave me. But I still don't see the problem in asking people on here what their experiences were, considering that I stated I was doing other research. This was just another form of research for me.

It's nice to see you by the way, LVB. I hope all has been well in your world! I haven't seen you post in awhile!

• Yes, it would cover a psychiatrist since that's not something that's offered standard at the clinic. I just didn't know that would be reccomended for anxiety. I'm already having trouble accepting that I need medications for this, it makes me feel even worse to think I might need to go to a psychiatrist :/ Whatever is neccesary I guess....

• I like Bel's medical advice when she is around.  Any chance we can get tips on how to score primo benzo scripts?  I kid, I kid.  When I did have a lot of stress, my go to was Valium because it lasts the longest and didn't have a bad  withdrawal and Klonopin because it lasts long.  I never took anything long term.
• Thanks, Salt! I have been out of town, working for a 'smart camp'. I was basically an office b!tch. I don't know how you all have time to Knot while you work!!! I was exhausted after work, so no time on here for me. I try to keep up with Whit offline and I barely even had time to talk to her! I saw your post about your dress, its so freakin pretty! I think the shoulders would scratch the crap out of me though!!

Any chance we can get tips on how to score primo benzo scripts? I kid, I kid.Unfortunately, in the places I rotated, it seems they're given out like candy. I swear, half the patients I saw were on a psych drug.

• Hey, if we're handing out scripts, I'll take one for Adderall. Last year of college and all... Man, they are really stingy with that here. I dont' need it and I've never attemtped to get it, but it's my school's number one recreational drug, even over pot.

• What color was your Valium?  The doses really vary and it depends on the dose.
• I believe it was white. This was a year and a half ago, so I could be mistaken. But I think everything I had was white, because I had to put everything in pill boxes with labels on it and times for dosage for my mom to give. me. (holy run on sentence!)

Oh boy that sounds like a blast. Well I hope you will stop by more now if your smart camp is over. And thank you! Surprisingly the straps aren't uncomfortable at all. :-)

• I know some Drs here that just hand scripts out, especially the one stop shops that do internal medicine/dermatology/spa treatments.
• White is 2mg, for wussies.  Well, not really wussies but the dose is really weak.  My script is always yellow 5mg and once, only once did someone give me a blue 10 mg script.  Trust me, the 5 mg is enough.
• Internal medicine hanging out with the Spa? WOW. I can see a spa and derma being at least connected, but not a regular doctor. Ever see that movie, Charlie Bartlett? This kid ends up being a middle man and going to the psychiatrist to get medicine for his friends. Reminds me of the doctor in that movie.

• This site is interesting and has lots of info. about different meds:http://www.crazymeds.us/Obviously you can take it for what it's worth.I don't get why everyone freaks out about getting information from other peoples' experiences about medical things. Obviously have to go to a doctor to get a prescription unless you're buying it off of someone else or from Mexico/Canada, so I'm pretty sure you're not using our advice to diagnose you... because, um, how could you?
• Yeah, I'm a wussie, I'll admit it. But I was ok with it, as I didn't really need it. I got off all the pain meds as soon as I could and just switched to Tylenol PM to help me get to sleep. Continued the antibiotics though.

• I have to agree that what you're describing doesn't sound like anxiety attacks.  It sounds stressful for sure, but anxiety attacks are a physical problem that can comes on with or without a trigger.  They really don't have much to do with being upset over something.  What you're describing sounds like just freaking yourself out.  Either way,  xanax is not a drug to screw around with.  Certainly not just for worrying.  I would recommend trying natural remedies like exercise, yoga or meditation.I have an actual anxiety disorder, and have been off and on Lexapro for it.  If you insistent on wanting to medicate for it, I would recommend it.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
• Well, I understand where Bel would have been coming from...if she would have tried to understand what I was saying. We do get a lot of people on here that want us to diagnose them or tell them if they are pregnant or not. Its a slippery slope if you're just listening to a forum; a wedding forum at that. But like you said, I don't see anything wrong with having a discussion about personal experiences.

• I'll have you know, Mexico makes you have a script now.  It is unfortunate but they make you.
• No, I don't insist on medicating for it, I'm still looking at options. However, what makes me think it might be anxiety is the type of thigns that trigger it. Its not something serious like worrying about money or our big move coming up. Its like I forgot to do laundry that night or something totally dumb like that. It sounds stupid, makes me feel stupid and worries me. But my heart does race, my palms get sweaty, sometimes I get a headache and I get sick to my stomach. But I agree, its not a full blown panic attack.

• I take lexapro for overall anxiety and depression. I think general anxiety is what is sounds like you have. Panic attacks are more where you literally feel like you are dying, although it sounds like you may be having mild anxiety attacks. Xanax is not long term and is addictive. I have had short time periods where I take one a day for 3 days, then I feel sick for 2 days after. Flu like. But it helps a lot. My sister has full blown panic attacks and takes Xanax regularly, and it does not affect her like it does me. I prefer Soma when I am stressed out:)

• Do they really? Well there goes getting Cialis for fun. Although I think we were going to order that from Canada. Kidding...sorta lol

• J&K, maybe you could just tell me how great you're going to look in your wedding dress, and clothes that used to fit you are now fitting great again? I put on a shirt today that I haven't worn in awhile and I felt like a freaking prostitot. My boobs were bursting out and it kept ridding up. Not attractive in the slightest. I don't even want to diet for the wedding. I want to get back to my old weight and to be healthy again.

• We used to have a P&E exercise motivation thread through email awhile back but it died.  Seriously, if you wanna email me we can exchange workout tips and encouragement.  :)

• I am all about the stairs. I haven't been to the gym in months and it shows on my muscle tone, so I refuse to allow myself to take elevators. (Though our buildings are much shorter). The stockroom at work is 2 flights of stairs so I go up and down probably 50-100 times a day. My only exercise.

Yeah I would participate in that as well. I could have used it today after the massive plate of chicken enchiladas I had for lunch and then the whole skipping the gym this evening.
