Re: Avitan/Xanex

  • Do you want in on the emailing Salt?  Or I could post like an accountability thread every night if you guys would be interested in that.  Think that would irritate too many people?

  • J&K, Amory e-mailed me today to get that started back up again, but she was looking for advice on training for a 5K, and I got nothing.

  • People post rants, vents, AWs, checks, and they don't have the right to complain.  I say go for it and post it every night, it would probably catch on if at least we commit to it.  I'll email you so you have my address but I think here would be a good place for this.
  • Yeah Whit, I got her email too.  I tried hard to get keep that thread going but it just kind of petered out.E, if you missed it before, I'm j.k10910 @ gmail.com, and I can definitely start an accountability thread, and try to post it every night.  I bet a lot of people would jump on eventually too.

  • I like the accountablity thread. What would bother me though (why I don't go to GIS) is people complaining about every single thing they eat. I jsut wouldn't want it to turn into a food diary. I'm all for a working out accountabilty though!

  • Yeah, I don't like GIS either.  It scares me lol

  • I was not a fan of the GIS board when I was planning, it was like team forced anorexia.  They were looking for pills, living on water and sometimes lettuce, and working out for hours.  Sorry but a quick wedding dress fix isn't going to cut it.  I would have rather stayed a bigger size than ended up in the hospital.
  • LVB, from what you've described it sounds like you might benefit from learning some techniques to decrease your anxiety and overall stress. A few sessions with a good cognitive behavioral therapist would be able to help with this. Your student health center should have counselors there or could provide a referral. I think psych meds are very useful (and take an antidepressant myself) but I think therapy is also very beneficial and you may not need medication.

  • Hey louisville, I'm late, but wanted to post a couple of thoughts: 1. It'd be good to go to the mental health counselors at your school or whatever b/c they can give you a questionnaire that determines whether your anxiety is mild, moderate, or severe.  Treatment follows. 2. Definitely try exercise and cognitive therapy, that will help, a therapist can guide you through this process where you're journalling about what causes the anxiety, then you can identify triggers and learn how to think yourself out of them, etc.3. If you're in too deep a hole to get out without meds, talk those over with a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist.
  • I guess it's been covered already, but I took Lexapro for a while. It made me grind my teeth. But it also helped me "level out" a bit.

I'm a pretty frequent poster on the GIS board, and I have to say that that isn't how it is over there. If anything the regular posters over there tell people NOT to use diet pills or fad diets. They tell you how to eat more calories in a day, and use tools to make sure you get enough protein, fat, calories etc. in a day. I've been on there for months now and I haven't ever seen someone say they only eat lettuce. Kinda ridiculous.
