If any of you...

Have a ferris wheel at your wedding, I'll laugh my pants off. Which, in itself, might be worth the price of admission.Seriously? Renting a ferris wheel?

  • It could make for some cool pictures.
  • Fische, I wonder if you knows you're on my radar (on my radar) on my radar (on my radar)

  • So is she hiring a bearded lady, a 5-arm man and rubber girl too?
  • So, I'm getting married at a fairgrounds. And typically at county fairs, they have these sorts of rides. Would it be out of hand if I asked them to keep the midway open for my guests during cocktail hour??

  • I was once a plus one at a wedding that had a castle moon bounce, a clown taking guests around the venue (a farm) in some sort of wagon thing, and face painting.  Two people were wearing dresses at this wedding--the bride & me.  I took casual outdoor wedding to mean a sundress, other guests took it to mean jean shorts.
  • I went to one back in college that had a feris wheel but the brides families buisness was making ferris wheels.
  • the only way that would be a remotely good idea is if as guests, you were seated in it as the ceremony was happening.  I love events like this.  I've been to weddings that had swans in a pool thing, bird/butterfly releases, and ice sculptures among other random stuff.  Every time my response wasn't "oooh how cool!"  It was WTF?
  • I'm having a face painter. In a backyard. But everyone is wearing dresses, so maybe you'd still like it, Fang?
  • ugh I just said feris wheel because of teh post I mean merry go rounds. the brides family was in teh merry go round animal carving buisness
  • FIs cousin went to a wedding that had a caricature artist (spelling?).

  • In all seriousness, aren't there some serious regulations for carnival rides?  I can't imagine the insurance that a B&G would have to pay for a ferris wheel.I would love to be a guest at a wedding where there are chair massages.

  • Maybe, Bec.  It would depend on the quality of the facepainter, really.
  • She's awesome, and she's really only there for the kids so they can go trick-or-treating later. But if an adult wants their face painted, they are certainly welcome.
  • Interesting...
  • Scoetto, is your "interesting" anyting like BGB's "nice"? Just wondering.

I just read KA's post on my local about trends and renting ferris wheels being one of them. ...What!?

  • Bec, that's a really cute idea for a Halloween wedding.  I'm probably being over-judgmental of the wedding I attended, because I didn't like my then-boyfriend's friends, but the wedding felt like the bride didn't get to have the birthday party she really wanted when she was 5, so she was recreating it at her wedding.

I would have fun, but that is an absolutely terrible idea for us and all of our drunk friends.  We would die.  And ditto on the huge liability/insurance issue.

  • Why stop at a ferris wheel?  Why not ride in on a tiger.  Rawr.
  • Oh yeah, the drunk guests climbing from car to car....Maybe there's a breathalyzer that the operator must give everyone before granting permission to ride. ;-)

  • Fische, man, you ruined my surprise! And FYI, I am appearing as the tattooed lady at my own wedding. Instant Bingo tickets will also be available at the guest book table.
    Crosswalk
  • if I made $9800 every 10 minutes, I'd probably rent an entire theme park for my wedding.

  • Now, there was a BZ episode where the B&G were both actors and they did a circus themed wedding.  Complete with a mini Cirque du Soleil and fire/sword eaters.

  • Ew. Imagine what the combination of an open bar and a ferris wheel would do to your lawn below. I guess those cute parasols would have more than one use, though! Bonus!
  • I would never rent a ferris wheel. But I might consider renting a bearded lady and some Siamese dwarf twins.
  • Ha! Bec! No, it's not. It's actually really interesting. Nothing I would do, or not very likely I'll invited to a wedding that had one. It's just interesting. Guess you could say I was at a loss for words?
  • I really wanted to get married at our zoo. It's one of the best zoos in the nation and they have some really awesome facilities (a shark tunnel in the aquarium, and banquet room overlooking the jungle). I think that would be awesome.
