Did you/ will you cut your hair after your wedding

I don't really get why people cut their hair after.  Is it because you were growing it for your wedding specifically?

Re: Did you/ will you cut your hair after your wedding

  • Pry for a pretty updo. I'm not.

  • I did not grow my hair out for the wedding, just kept it as is.  I do need a trim but nothing drastic.
  • I had originally decided to grow my hair out from a pixie for my wedding but I ended up cutting it last week. I still have a year and I'll probaly try to get a bob by then (again).. but yeah, I'm definately going to get another pixie the day after the wedding.
  • I don't get why people grow their hair for their wedding either. All my friends did this. And with long hair, in their wedding photos, they don't look like themselves, and immediately following the wedding, they cut their hair. I'm just leaving mine how I like it. I got it cut and coloured on Tuesday, a bit shorter than my sig picture, with lo-lites. Chances are I'll cut/colour it before the wedding again.

  • I know so many who will CHOP their hair like a week after their wedding.  Just don't get it.  Just because you're married doesn't mean you need to invest in a mom/old lady cut.

  • i usually have longer hair... just below my shoulders.i grew my hair out, all one length and colour so that it would be easy to curl for the wedding.. and then as soon as i got back from Mexico chopped it. Drastically.
  • I will be cutting mine off.  I usually chop it off every winter, but didn't last winter becaseu I wanted it to be longer for the wedding. I want it long for the wedding because I think that's how I and it look best, but I hate dealing with it.
  • I'm ages away from my wedding, but I have a feeling this will happen with me. I generally like drastic hair changes anyway, and I also basically prefer having short hair, even though I will be growing it long for the wedding. After a year and a half or so of letting my hair get long (I'm planning on starting this winter), I'm going to be ready to yank it out of my head by the time the wedding is over.

  • My hair grows really fast. It was down to my butt and I cut it shorter, just above my shoulders, right before I met Buddy. I haven't decided what I want to do with my hair for the wedding, but if I find an updo I like, I'll probably grow it out and then, at some point after the wedding, I am likely to go back to short. We live in Arizona, and I can't stand my hair sticking to me.Plus, when it was that long, the day I got it cut, I immediately went from looking like a teenager to looking my age. I'd like it longer for flexibility for wedding hair, but not long permanently.

  • I agree, why grow it for your wedding if it's not you?
  • My hair is a decent length normally, just past my shoulders. I am growing it as long as I cen before the wedding to get the style of hair that I want on the wedding day. My first cut after the wedding though I will be going back to my shoulder length hair. I don't like it this long day to day, I'm just dealing with it until the wedding!
  • i was gonna, but i got fat.
  • I thought that was a bit dated.  I remember photos of my grandmother before and after.  After was a bobThat may have been just that generation though
  • I just had 12 inches cut off mine. I can't say that I was growing it out specifically for the wedding, however, I didn't want to chop it off, since my options for hairstyles was greater with longer hair.
  • my hair is already long and i won't cut it after the wedding.but i did cut my bangs back last week, i had let them grow out. but i couldn't stand it anymore. i missed my bangs!
  • I can't pull off short hair. I tried once in HS and didn't like it. My hair is curly and frizzy so the weight of it helps tame the curls.

  • I don't think that long hair makes me look any less me, considering I had long hair for my entire life and this shorter cut is new. But the length I like to wear it doesn't lend itself to a "polished" look, so I'll probably let a few inches grow out just so that it can be a little fan-say for the wedding.

  • This may be sappy but I asked FI which he'd prefer me to do, and he said he'd like me to grow it. I don't think that's controlling or anything, but part of the whole thing is that I want to walk in and look just right for him. Poor guy needs to have some say in something, what with how his mother and I have been going....

  • i've always wanted bangs.. but didn't want to get them before the wedding and then have to grow them out if i hated them so i waited until after.i freaking LOVE them. so cute and fun!
  • I'll add too, that I do this almost every 2-3 years. I grow it out long, donate it, and then cut 10-14 inches off. My hair grows insanely fast.
  • I grew mine because I wanted to grow it and I plan to keep it long for quite awhile.  This is the first time in my life that I've had long hair.  I did go back to my  natural colour for the wedding though.  I have since kept it aside from two peek-a-boos of blonde.FYI ladies anything longer than shoulder length is a BIITCH to put in an updo.  Well I shouldn't say a biitch, but I personally hate it.  To much hair to work with.  Shorter hair makes nicer updos.  (for me, i should say)

  • I cut my hair off about 3 months before our wedding.

  • I already want to cut my hair off..and it's not even at the length I want it to grow out to yet! I'm growing mine right now...I've always either grown my hair really long or had really short hair. I HATE the in between...it's kind of torturous. I would like to have it long so that I can do an updo for the wedding - I prefer it back and I think it will look good. But for everyday maintenance purposes...I like a short, edgy style that I don't have to put much effort in to.
  • I kept mine long for the wedding. I cut 11 inches off the next day and donated it.

  • they don't look like themselvesThis is why I won't be doing an updo.  FWIW, I usually have long-ish hair thought the summer and then chop it short for the winter, so I won't look different - my hair'll just be 2 or 3 inches longer than usual.
  • I did grow mine out for the wedding and got a couple inches taken off afterward.  My stylist she wished I would have had the cut before the wedding because then my updo would have been a lot easier.  So I guess my growing it out was unnecessary.  Wish I had known that.I just got it cut to a bob last week, but I've been married almost a year so I wouldn't consider it the "post wedding chop".  I was just ready for a change and sick of my old style.

  • I cut 11 inches off the next day and donated it.I was hoping to this, too, but I don't think I'l have enough to donate.  I had heard somewhere that it needed to by at leat 8" to donate.  Hopefully, I heard wrong and can donate it.
  • My hair is usually pretty long, but every few years it starts annoying me and I chop it all off.  I'm annoyed with it now and the only reason I'm not chopping it is because of the wedding.
  • I used to have hair to my butt, but it was all dead and I chopped it off. I LOVE my short hair. My mother not so much. All of the women in my family have insanely long hair, so it is kind of a tradition. My mother's one simple request was to grow my hair out for the wedding, and since it is something simple I agreed to do it.After the wedding, I will probably chop it all off again. My hair changes drastically all the time anyway, so its not like growing it out will make it "not look like me"

  • ? Of course I'll look like myself and cutting your hair short does not = a mom or old lady cut. There are no picures of hairstyles for a wedding for us with short hair. My pixie is so short I cannot put a pin or a veil in it. I will grow it out so that I can do something with it and it will 100% look like me.
