Did you/ will you cut your hair after your wedding

Re: Did you/ will you cut your hair after your wedding

  • It's 10 inches of unbleached hair for locks of love. Pantene has a program too, which is 8 inches.
  • I never want to have short hair, ever., so no. I am actually still growing my hair so I can get to to length I want, and then maintain it. I don't like short hair on most people, but to each their own. It does look good on a lot of women, but you have to have the right features and body type, IMO to pull it off.

  • When I met my FI my hair was down to my waist.  I miss having extra long hair.  I'm growing it out, but I think I will keep it long after the wedding as well.
  • Yikes, I will not cut my hair.  Short hair and me just don't mix.  I don't like to go beyond shoulder length.I have been growing my hair for the wedding, but that's just because I want to make sure I have enough hair for the style I want.  If she needs to cut some off, that's fine.I will be dying my hair red after the wedding.  I want my natural color for the wedding, but last summer I had red hair and I absolutely loved it.

  • I might, might not.  I generally switch between short and long every few years, so drastic length changes aren't really all that strange for me.  I want to wear it down and a bit curly for the wedding, which may or may not be a completely insane idea for Hawaii.  I at least want it long enough so I can decide somewhat last minute to put it up if needed.
  • I did just recently cut my hair quite a bit shorter (wedding was Jul 4) but it was more because I wanted a change than anything. I wasn't really growing it out for the wedding but I did want enough length for a decent up-do.I get too bored if I keep the same hairstyle for too long and was starting to pretty much just wear a ponytail everyday so I decided it was time to put an end to that.
  • It's 10 inches of unbleached hair for locks of love. Pantene has a program too, which is 8 inches.Yeah, I don't think I'd have enough unless I went super short.  Eight inches, maybe, but probably not.
  • I will be cutting my hair after, but only because my hair has been shoulder length or longer for over a year now and I'm bored. The only reason I haven't cut it yet is because I want to donate and need to get the length I need so it won't be super short when I cut it. So yes, I will do it, no not because of the wedding specifically but it worked out that way.
  • I had very long hair that I chopped to chin length in December. Then when we got engaged in January I couldn't help but think "damn it!" I kept it short for a bit and now I'm growing it again. I got bored of the short and now I'm ready for long again. Although the in between part is a pain in the azz. I'm at awkward mid neck not quite shoulder length.

  • Based on my average 2 year cycle, I'll cut my hair all off again about 11 months after the wedding.

  • I am growing mine, because I too think I look better with longer hair.. I just hate dealing with it on a daily basis. I'll prob. cut a few inches off after the wedding.

  • I didn't cut it right after, but it was on my agenda and just didn't happen. I just got it cut Tuesday and boy, do I feel much better. I was growing my hair out for the wedding and I really do hate it when my hair gets long, so it was time to get it chopped.

  • Well, I could always shave my head after...
  • I've always wanted to shave my head!!
  • I want to look like myself on my wedding day. It will curly and short... the way it always is. I will not torture myself with long, lifeless hair all over me for a year for the sake of an updo.
  • bombtones--my new haircut looks exactly like yours does in your siggy. I love it.
  • I was growing out my hair for the wedding. I wanted a half up hairstyle with long curls. I didn't want an updo, because I don't care for how I look with my hair up. Anyway, my hair  was half way down my back. I like it long, but it's hard to maintain and style. Plus the weight of it gave me headaches. So I decided to chop it. It's in a layered bob, and I really like it. I still look like me, because I've had a wide range of styles. After I cut it, everyone said, "Now you don't have enough hair for the wedding!" I just laugh and say,"I wasn't planning on wearing it up." They look at me like I'm nuts, as if an updo is the only acceptable wedding hair.
  • Not at all. Every time I cut my hair short, I hate it.

  • My Dad is still p***** my Mum did this (31 years ago!!!) he said it's like a mean trick, shortly followed by massive weight gain! ha ha  (my Dad has a brilliant sense of humour & is adorable before you all start flaming him!)I'm trying to convince my BF all women turn into Pussycat Dolls after they get married!
  • Yea, its a pretty awesome 'do. I finally found someone who knows how to cut curly hair and I consider her an angel.
  • i have TONS of hair! i did grow it a bit longer than normal for the wedding and cut it about 2months later. i probably took off 10-12inches. not super psyched about it now. it either needs to be longer or shorter but my hair is so full that it just looks like a poofy one length home job (that cost me $80)

  • I was growing my hair out so that I wouldn't look like Shirley Temple on wedding day. I knew that I wanted my hair down and curly, but wanted to grow it a few inches past my shoulders so that the curls would sit lower. It took a while for them to fall, but it worked out because of the longer hair. Now it's shorter and it feels much better.

  • I cut 12 inches off about 3 months post wedding. but for the last about 8 years I have been doing that whenever I get 12 inches longer then just liong enough to do a pony tail and donating to locks of love. I donate every about 2 years or so this was my 5th donation
  • I am in same boat as agk--cut to chin length then we got engaged and said $hit! So growing it out now.  If I wanted to keep it as is, it'd be no problem for the wedding--could easily do a 20's or 50's style do for the vintage theme. But the reality is, I miss my ballet bun. It looked real cute, but trying to dance and keep it out of my face got on my nerves. I'm really a bunhead at heart, so I will let it grow long enough for a ponytail and bun, that's it.

  • My friend just shaved her head, and donated to locks of love (her aunt has terminal breast cancer, and she and her cousin are doing the 3-day in her aunt's honor in a few weeks). I think it's awesome of her, but I could never do it.I've always had long hair. I imagine I'll get a bit trimmed (it's below my shoulder blades now), but no shorter than my shoulders. I look terrible with short hair.

  • I grow my hair out and then chop it off and donate it. At the time of the wedding, I had 12.5 inches to donate, so I chopped it off and I hate it - yay! But at least my hair went to some use and I'll just grow it out and chop it again, hopefully with a better cut that time.
  • I'll admit I didn't read all the responses but I'm doing this.  I prefer my hair short but am growing it out for the wedding because when you have short hair it looks the same everyday.  You can't get it done nice for the wedding and I want to look more formal than I do everyday.  A pp said that people who do this don't look like themselves.  I disagree.  I'll look like myself but better.  I think growing it out is WAY better than spendin $3000 on extensions for one day.  I've donated to Locks of Love before and will again after the wedding.
  • i dont get it either. i didnt change my hair for the wedding, nor did i suddenly start wearing makeup.  it was important to me that i look like me, not waht BRIDE magazine thinks i should look like on my wedding day.
  • I absolutely will cut it after.  I might even cut it before; I'm going to the hairdresser next week because I hate this straight, boring, long thing I have going on, it is not at all flattering.  May get some longer bangs in the front.  I get bored with hair easily.
