Re: Disgusting- How many more are there?

  • Sick, sick, sick.  And very disturbing.
  • There are so many sickos out there.  Just think, how many other stories are there like this that we don't know about?
  • I can't imagine how somebody could see their own child in a sexual way, not to m,ention actually acting upon it.
  • These kinds of stories make me sick to my stomach. I just can't imagine the hell that those children have been put through.
  • It goes on all the time, we are just hearing about it because it's the "flavor of the week."  We'll only hear about these for another month or so - then the media will find something else to focus on.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Probably more than we could ever want to know.I used to write Pre-sentence Investigations on felony sex offenders.  It happens more than people know and usually someone other than the child and the offender know what's happening and do nothing to stop it.  It's sad and terrible.

  • Yuck, what the fuuck. I feel sorry for the victims, who have basically lost the chance at having an enjoyable life because of these basstards. uugh.
  • So horrifying. Jaycee Dugard was held in Antioch, which is the town next to where my parents live and that we drive through to go visit them. Now I always think about which house it was that she was held (well, in the backyard, in a tent) and how no one could know or do anything about it for 18 years. It's sickening.

  •  A lot. I used to work for an organization who rehabbed sex offenders from the time they were getting ready to leave prison until they resumed "normal" life, including maintaining some sort of family structure (assuming no one in the family was a prior victim). There just isn't enough help out there for people with this disease. Not sure that it would have helped in this case or the other recent one, but when people realize they have tendencies like this, there aren't many (if any) programs that can take them on. They're either told that treatment is for those who offend, or that there isn't enough space for someone who hasn't offended over those who do offend. It's really a sad situation, especially if someone would want to seek help before their disease got unmanageable.
