Fiance says No Videographer!

Re: Fiance says No Videographer!

• watching my parents' wedding video was very special to me, definitely different from just looking at pictures. This is a good point. I've been antivideo up to this point, but this comment sort of makes me want one.
• I think that if I were you, I would forget about the videographer and when the wedding gets closer, approach the subject again with FI.  Explain to him why it would be so meaningful for you to have a video of the day and let him explain the reasons that he doesn't want it.  Ask him if he can think of other options (like taping the ceremony only or having a private video that only you would watch and not show to others, etc.).  Then maybe the two of you can come to a decision together that will satisfy you both. I agree with tide that you need to learn to make decisions together.  You will not survive in marriage if you keep track of who "won" the last disagreement and base the next decision on that alone.

• If he's dead set on not having one - it may be something you need to give on.However, a good videographer will never even be noticed.  I swear to you I never noticed ours until he came up and shook DH and my hand to say congrats before he left.  I never saw the man during the ceremony - not once.Maybe find a video person that's willing to stay in the back of the ceremony and not do anything up close.  Or maybe compromise and only have the cermeony recorded. We made that sacrifice due to budget.  I wanted a record of the ceremony on DVD, but coulnd't afford anything too crazy.  We have the ceremony and it's beautiful.
• oot - They put a wireless lapel microphone on my DH. I think it was behind his bout, but I never saw it. It picked up the priest and us perfectly. A mic being pushed between the couple would be a problem!
• All of the weddings I have attended with videographers have had the guy shoving a mike between the couple during their vows. Those videographers sound pretty crappy.  Ours will be mic-ing FI so we are both audible during the vows.  He has a film background so he is less of a cheesy videographer and more just there to "capture the day observationally."  You can find a videographer who will be nonintrusive.msgirl, my FI helped with the registry but honestly neither of us knew what we were doing/what we needed.  We both hate shopping.  I finally went again with both of our moms and they helped a lot.
• oot,no wireless mics?  Dh wore a wireless under his tux jacket and it can't be seen.  that one mic picked up the officiant, him and me.  The only other person that had a wireless was the reader because she stood pretty far from us.
• My husband wore a wireless mic as well and I specifically told my videographer NO interviews nother. He was to be in the background and like the others said most good videographers do not do the whole interview thing anyway, they know better. Expatpumpkin- I am obsessed with your wedding how gorgeous and what a fantastic job you have done with the website. I, like you have a 6 minute video and that is all I have shown people and WOW yours is amazing. If anyone one here wants to see a well done video you should check out expatpumpkins in her bio, it is fantastic I thought. Here are my two video clips if you would like to see how well they were done and not in anyones face. The bidal prep:http://exposureroom.com/members/chaddyle.aspx/assets/72cc2dfaa98b44fc98951c5066f6e13d/The whole wedding and reception recap:http://exposureroom.com/members /chaddyle.aspx/assets/0bd53dbdb 639469c9b8cd77f026ccef6/

• Yes, they had them clipped on but the videographer was still obvious. Two were pretty expensive weddings, two were lower end and I have yet to see it done well.Perhaps I am just going to the wrong weddings ;)
• Does anyone actually watch their wedding video? Well.. I've watched my highlights video about 50 times already in the last week. But I've also looked through my photos about 100 times too. Anyway, I can understand your reasons for wanting one. The only thing that I can think of, which might change his mind, is if he sees how nice it would be to have those memories documented. Our wedding day was such a wonderful day and it's so great to be able to relive it every now and then. Have you actually shown him (good) samples of other people's wedding videos? Particularly people that you know and love. If you've tried everything and nothing can make him feel more comfortable about the idea, I think you'll have to choose his comfort above the video. Great photos can capture your day really well too.

• The video from my wedding is one of my most favorite things that I have. I could not of lived without it. That's a little dramatic, don't you think?

• Don't trust family to video it unless you know their skill. Paying a videographer would insure that you don't get sh*t footage.

• At first I didn't want a videographer either.  Most of my friends have been married for awhile and recommended it.  So, I looked into it and was hooked. I guess it is just a personal preference.  It has been awhile since our wedding and we watch the video every so often but never look at the album (it is in the corner gathering dust). People spend so much time and money on a wedding, I don't understand why they wouldn't want a movie documenting the events of the day.  Honestly, DH and I both wish we had some coverage for the RD as well. Just my opinion.  We barely noticed that our videographer was there at all.

• GirlWithaRing - Maybe we got overcharged :0 Also, we did pay extra for HD - DH put his foot down. Hahaha, I'm ordering extra copies this afternoon so I'll tease them about it ;) Meghan - Loved it!!! Did it feel surreal to walk around the French Quarter in a wedding dress? In my case, a snowboarder fresh off the slopes saw me in the hotel lobby and was fawning all over me like I was his snow bride. He was really funny, and may have been indulging at the apres-ski bar;) I bet you got some comments on the street, huh?
• Expatpumpkin- Yes it was a blast walking through the french quarter. In fact we just left the reception and walked across the street to our hotel it was awesome. My dress got so black at the bottom which was funny and the dry cleaners got it all out. New Orleans was a great backdrop to a romantic, elegant and FUN wedding and I think that the video guy captured that 100%. Again something I am so glad that I had captured for years to come. If I would not of done NOLA I think that a winter wonderland wedding like yours was GREAT!! NOLA is my home but with divorced families I grew up on the slopes too, I was born in VT. Well thanks for all of your compliments.
