Restaurant Poll

Between Salt & her FI's visit last weekend and Whit going to Applebee's the other night, I was wondering....1. What is your favorite chain restaurant?2. What local restaurant(s) would you take a Knottie & her FI to if they came to visit you & FI?

Re: Restaurant Poll

  • 1. Red Lobster, Olive Garden, The Keg, McDonalds. 2. My house. Seriously. My town doesn't offer much.
    image
  • 1. Cheesecake Factory 2. Modern Diner.  Best. Breakfast. Ever.
    image
  • 1.  Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden 2.  Anywhere for Chicago style pizza (Lou Malnati's, Giordano's, Pizzeria Duo, etc)

  • 1. Outback Steakhouse2. I've actually given this thought... if a knottie came to visit I would either treat them to a round of golf (if that's their thing) followed by dinner and a movie OR a comedy show at The Improv and dinner at a nearby brewery that serves delicious pizza.

  • 1. Cracker Barrel, Sweet Tomatoes aka Souplantation, Saltgrass Steakhouse2. Jonesy's EatBar (jeatbar.com)- best fries and lamb sliders EVER

  • 1. earls or joey tomato's (they're sister companies, so a lot of the same flavors).  I think they might be canadian though.  It's H and I's go to place when we can't decide where to go for dinner. 2. I would take them for vietnamese subs, sate soup, the hole in the wall indian restaurant with the best samosa's i've had, one of my husband's restaurants - OMG so good.

  • 1.  Kelsey's or McDonalds for fast food.2.  Um, probably Spiro's.  It's a nice italian restaurant locally owned and ran.  It's really the only non-chain restaurant we have other than hole-in-the-wall type places.
  • 1. BENNIGANS. Obviously. (Seriously though...probably Friday's. I like flair.) 2. Fuji San (Thai) or Yamato (sushi).

  • 1. Olive Garden. Effing breadsticks.... 2. A few choices, depending on what meal we are having and what mood we are on: -Double Wide Grill (where we took Salt & her FI). Great for sandwiches & apps. Several vegetarian & vegan options -Cafe du Juor--this is best if a Knottie & FI are staying at the hotel a few blocks away. BYOB. Amazing food. Small menu, but everything is amazing. Great place to sit and talk over bottles of wine and space out apps & dinner. -Piper's Pub--Irish/Scottish fare. Great for lunch and dinner, but if Knottie & FI staying overnight, we would take them here for brunch. My favorites include Irish Boxty (big potato pancake folded over with scrambled eggs, cheese & bacon & ham inside) and Belgian French Toast (the batter is made with Lindeman's raspberry frambiose). Taco Loco--amazing authentic Mexican food. Good sangria. Wonderful owners & staff.

  • 1. chick-fil-a.  That is about it.  The longer I live here the more I realize I do not like chain restaurants in the states.  We only have a few fast food places down here and no wait service type chain restaurants.2.  Either one of DH's restaurants or ZoZo's in St John.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Oh wait...I retract my first answer and replace it with Outback. And still Bennigans of course.

  • 1. Fogo de Chao.2. I'd cook at home, because 9 times out of 10, if I can afford the restaurant, it isn't as good as what either my husband or I can cook at home.
  • Also: Towson Diner.  The only restaurant that I've been to where there's a wait at 2 AM
    image
  • 1. I like Cheesecake Factory - as my most consistent favorites, but we eat at Chili's a lot. 2.  If we were in Cali, I would take them to Claim Jumpers or BJ's.  Here in ATL I would probably take them to Shout! or maybe Harry & Sons if you like Thai or Sushi.
  • Mmmmm El Salto = SO SO SO SO SO GOOD.

  • 1.  BP's.  Wait, no, L'Azia.  Nooooo Brewsters!  Mmmm Brewsters where everything is made with beer.2.  Well, I suppose I've got to go with OPM since that's where I met Mandalisciousness (mandycouscous tee hee).  But, there's also Habesha, the Hardware Grill, Lux, deLux (mmmm burgers), The Red Ox Inn, Brewsters, Don Cherry's, L'Azia...  I could go on.  Forever.

  • 1. Fast foody, Qdoba. Sit down, Texas Roadhouse.2. If they're into meat, I'd cook at home. Nothing like a home grown steak and potatos, in my opinion :)But, if we're going out in Omaha, I'd probably take them to either Roja (Mexican, with some really unique twists), Upstream Brewery (brew pub, obviously, and their beer is amazing), JC Mandarin (asian fusion, so good), Big Fred's (very casual, awesome pizza and beer), or Malara's (authentic Italian). Ted & Wally's for homemade ice cream after :)

  • 1. The Melting Pot 2. It depends.  Probably Kristian's since they have amazing Italian food.  Or POD...revoving sushi bar and yummy Asian food.
  • 1. What is your favorite chain restaurant?  McCormick and Schmick's, Capital Grille, Ramano's Macaroni Grille, Ruth's Chris and that other steak house, the name has escaped me, but Tiger Woods always eats there when he's in town2. What local restaurant(s) would you take a Knottie & her FI to if they came to visit you & FI?We'd need a week, seriously.  I'm glad you asked because Becca and I are trying to figure out what to do with Sarah when she's here.  Here are some of my favorites:Snack Bar:  it's a Mom and Pop, meat and 3 place.  They have a salad bar that puts Ruby Tuesday to shame, daily lunch specials from the hot bar (country style steak and gravy, etc), burgers, dogs, sandwiches, and my favorite--meatloaf sandwich. For sandwiches, Cafe Gouda or Groucho's (it's a chain, but I think it's local).  They have wraps, sandwiches, soups, etc.  All fresh, lots of vegetarian options at Gouda. For upscale dining, Josh's on the Square.  It's a young guy who has been the sous chef at a local country club for several years, and also was the chef at Mr. Heels' and my favorite restaurant in Charlotte when we lived there.  He'd make anything, even if it wasn't on he menu.  He's still the same way.  He has a fusion restaurant now--upscale dining but decent prices.  The succotash is to die for.  Another upscale dining, Yossef 242.  It's been considered one of the nicest restaurants in town for a long time.  Steaks, seafood, tapas, lots to choose from.  A running rumor in town is that all the rich people go there and sit in the private dining room and snort coke.  Just some local trivia for ya.
  • Ichiban or Genji's.  If I lived in Florida I'd take them to Kobe's.  YUM.  We went there 3 times on our honeymoon, we loved it so much compared to japenese food up here.
  • Oh, I'd also like to add Houston's.  Love the spin dip.
  • 1. Longhorn for steak, Carrabba's for Italian, Wendy's for burgers, Chick-Fil-A for chicken, and McDonald's for fries. 2. I would probably take a Knottie & her FI(or H) to Buffalo's Cafe for trivia, beer, and wings. If it wasn't trivia night, we'd probably go to Zen or Ichiban for teppanyaki (or sushi if she so chooses). We would then go to our local watering hole and play National trivia. I like trivia. Or we would go back to my place (bow chicka wow wow) and drink beer and play Texas Hold' Em or Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit. I haven't thought about it at length or anything, though.
  • Moose my friend used to cook at the hardware grill.  Is it still the hot place to go for a higher end meal? Don Cherry's... I have to go here everyone talks about it.
