Addition to my answer to #2:  If I still lived in Edmonton, I would definitely take someone to Danny Hacksaws.  It was right across the road from my apartment.  It's kind of a grundgy place, but has the best wings and fries and gravy ever.  Ever.

Vallyhoo - I would vacation in Florida every year just because of that place.  It makes our Japenese Steakhouses look 2nd rate.

It's still among the top rated restaurants in the city - Hardware Grill, Jack's Grill, Lux, The Red OX, they're all up there.I've eaten at all of those.  Had the NYE dinner at the Hardware grill several years ago.  Pricey as hell, wine cost more than our meals did, but it was Ah-mazing.  Ditto Jack's the next year for NYE - fantastic wine list, excellent scotch selection, good food (but not as good as the Hardware in my mind).FI and I like good food so we try to make a point to hit the nicer restaurants once in awhile.  Unfortunately it's been less often lately and I haven't kept up on some of the new places.Blue Plate Diner is still one of the better breakfasts I've had.

The Keg is a steakhouse.  I am not a steak connoisseur but I think they're pretty good!  And they have awesome appys.

1. The keg is my favourite, I also really like east side marios and boston pizza. I rarely eat out though. 2. I probably would take them to the keg, i like it the best.

WE have a Kobe's here in fargo. Same thing? It's a japanese steakhouse, kind of like an Ichiban.

Yea Fishy - I think the Florida part makes a big difference.   I'm jealous though, why can't Ohio have it!

It's delicious Moose.  My mom and I used to go there all the time and get their appy platter.  I haven't been for years.  It seems everytime I go to Edmonton to see my mom, I either have my sister and her kids, who can't go there because it's a bar, or I'm with FI, who gets a boner for Royal Pizza and always wants to go there.

We have a Kobe's too, but it's also not in Florida with Vally. Sad face. They have one in Phoenix too, but I never went there.

Yeah Mike and I like to keep dinners under $100 (with wine).  But every now and then we'll splurge.  I think for our anniversary we might go out and really splurge!!

I also love Johnny Carino's; better than Olive Garden, anyway. I'm the only one in town that feels that way, I guess, because Carino's is always dead and Olive Garden is always packed.

I worked at Boston Pizza for 3.5 years.  I rarely go anymore.  But sometimes I get a mad craving for perogy pizza or penne alfredo, baked with cheese with a bullet of teriyaki sauce on the side. Or garlic toast with a bullet of peanut sauce for dipping.  The things we thought up and would eat.

1. Meh, I'm not much into chain restaurants, but I do love me some five guys (here in DC) burger n' fries or In N Out burger when I'm in Cali. 2. Maybe Ben's Chili Bowl for local flavor, or ethiopian (there's a big ethipian community in DC, so it's a good locally-appropriate activitiy), or one of two restaurant/bars on 14th st that both have excellent food, Saint Ex or Marvin. I think live music after would be good (either at one of DC's historic jazz clubs or at the local small scale music venues, 930 club or Black Cat).

I love the 930 Club.  That is my absolute favorite venue.

Royal Pizza is good too - they have great pizza, but with FI if we get pizza we go for the thin crust at panago.  I miss my carbs.Mandy, have you and Mike gone to the Reef and Beef in Calgary yet?  Is it even still there?  I used to LOVE that place.  Total dive on the outside, then you walk in the door and it's like "WTF, where'd THIS come from?"  Good food too - or it used to be.Oh, I'd also consider going to the Lingnan.  Fantabulous chinese food and Amy rocks.
