Save the Dates for Guest List B

We are getting married in an area where most guests will be coming from other locations (mostly between 2-3 hours).  We have a Guest List B which only has about a dozen people.  How did you notify Guest List B that they were invited...Did you not send out Save the Dates for them, and just have Guest List A RSVP earlier?

Wait until after Guest List A replies, and then send out notes saying "Congrats!  Some of the people we like more than you aren't able to come to the wedding, so you're in!"

But...guest list B is only invited if enough A people decline right?  So wouldn't you just send invites to B people after enough A people decline?  You can't send someone a "conditional" Save the Date.

B lists usually wind up blowing up in your face, so I'm not a fan. If you are doing one, those people don't get STDs, they just get an invitation shortly after you receive RSVP "no" replies.

This is taking a tremendous amount of will power, but I'm going to answer you seriously and nicely. If you choose to have a B list, it is extremely important that you be as discrete as possible about who is on which list. It would be best if you didn't send out STDs at all, for this reason. If you do choose to send out STDs, only send them to A list guests. Then, when it is time, send out invitations to your A list. When you get declines, then you can send out invitations to your B list.Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure you don't meet the minimum IQ requirement to have a B list if you had to ask about sending them STDs.Crap, well, I tried..

1. I didn't read the responses, sorry if I repeat. 2. Don't have a B list. 3. STDs aren't mandatory. 4. Your guests will find out when they receive an invite. 5. if you must, get an extra set of RSVP cards with a later RSVP date.

and i'm not really sure why i feel the need to defend myself, but obviously i'm not going to send out STD to people i'm not going to send out invitations to.thanks for the constructive criticism...oh wait...there wasn't any
