  • Cupcake, my assistant coach is married to her partner of 20 years.  The state doesn't recognize it.  That makes me stabby.  Some of our athletes figured it out this season (she's VERY private) and made inappropriate comments.  I ripped the entire team a new one for 20 minutes about being respectful (they had also commented on weight and any number of other irrelevant things about me and my staff).  It shut the girls up, but not their parents.  Seriously, adults SUCK.  I hope FI and I are as happy together in 20 years as she is with her partner.

  • Kentucky.  We have the best horses, basketball and bourbon. And the worst politics EVER.  Our old govenor almost got shot down flying into DC when the radio in his plane went out in 2002 or 2003.  I cried when I heard the "almost" part.

  • For it and could not believe that Ca passed prop 8.Unbelievable.
  • I'm betting a lot of people were confused by the double negatives when voting!
  • For it. In my opinion, two people who love each other have the right to get matter, no matter what gender or sexual orientation they are. I would not feel right being able to marry my Fi [who I love with all my heart] and denying someone else the right to do so, just because they are a same sex couple. My "Auntie Charlene" [Charles] and his partner Ray have been together for years. Charles and my Momma have been the best of friends since their high school years. They have a wonderful relationship and I truly love and admire them for being so open about their lifestyle, in a small southern town, where so many people look down upon it.
  • Wow, they keep pushing the DSM-V back, I'm worried by the time it comes out it will be outdated already! :( Frankly, I think they should put homophobia in the DSM (I mean specifically).

  • It is legal in all of Canada. After the first province ruled it unconstitutional to deny same-sex couples the right to marry, it was pretty much a domino effect across the rest of the country.

  • I am definitely for gay marriage. I live in CA and voted against Prop 8 (aka Prop H8) but the stupid thing passed anyways. I have many gay friends and in fact my MOH is a gay man and has been one of my closest friends for over 10 years. Everyone deserves the right to marry who they love, who they choose!
  • 100% FOR gay marriage. It's mind-boggling to me that many states are still writing discrimination INTO their laws.

  • Ahh, well, if it was  $ thing that kind of makes sense. I guess we can finally celebrate desegregation being a success?

  • Ring, I know!  I'm so jealous of the Canadian ladies on the bump.  DH is a research psychologist.  He's from Michigan and I went to college in way northern NY, so we're used to the cold and snow.  I love it and miss it, actually!

  • thesun- don't know if that was meant for me, but if so it was definitely a problem.Even at the end I could not get used to the "no on prop 8" thing. I was part of the protests and still thought it was awkward. I think it confused a lot of people. Unintentionally, of course. mmhhmm.
  • They are closed. just counting now.

  • It amazes me that this is even an issue, future generations are going to look back on the gay marriage debate and have the same view that our generation has on segregation. It's a shameful point in history. This is VERBATIM what I say when I discuss it. It's like we have the same exact brain.

  • Sucrets & Squirrly - that`s why i love being Canadian - it`s legal across the whole country. There`s still lots of things to change, but I have to wonder if fighting to maintain marriage as a heterosexual right only is really the biggest thing we can be worrying about right now. I have a very close minded co-worker who last week announced loudly that anyone with tattoos, piercings or alternative lifestyles sucked the souls out of church going, god fearing people - and then gave me the side eye (I have most of those qualities - ha). I was overwhelmed when one of my co-workers who is generally quiet and reserved jumped all over evil co-worker and told her that it was exactly those people who sucked the souls out of everyone else. I guess it just goes to show that there is support from even the most unlikely places.
  • Kentucky. We have the best horses, basketball and bourbon.HORSIES! You have won my heart.Anyway, I'm for it. Regardless of my own beliefs, this is a decision that means SO MUCH to a large group of people. What do I gain by not allowing them to marry?
  • Well, Jesus hates people with tattoos, right? Isn't that in the Bible somewhere?
