Weird things about FI

Re: Weird things about FI

  • I almost always sleep with either a pillow or part of the comforter between my legs :( I do it because I don't like when my legs stick to each other. So if I'm sleeping in pants it's not usually an issue, but shorts or unders=pillow between legs.

  • He is an excellent juggler. He really loves names of groups of animals and we are learning them together.  (a murder of crows, a parliament of owls, etc)He almost died as a baby of a pretty rare disease and has a tracheotomy scar, and scars on his feet and in his ribcage from the IV lines. He will not eat things on the wrong form of bread.  If he has a hamburger, it has to be on a hamburger bun, not a piece of bread.  Deli sandwiches go on deli rolls, hot dogs go on hot dog buns, PB sandwiches go on bread, etc.  We always have ten million forms of bread in our house. He will not eat soft foods with hard things in them, like ice cream with chocolate chips in it, because he has a strange fear of biting into a grasshopper in a peanut butter sandwich.

  • He likes to walk with a limp and yell my name in public to embarrass me.My father does this to my mother.

  • Oh he loves to dance to I'm too sexy for my shirt.

  • tlv - The sticky leg thing makes sense, but I think the reason he doesn't like it is more because of his knee bones touching. Or something. I don't like when my legs stick together either.Ciara - Oh we've seen those make you own kits that you can buy. FI freaked out when he saw it.

  • He has a collection of lighters, like the cheap bic lighters he finds at the club. He doesn't smoke. He just collects them.

  • Salt and Ciara - When they came out with those "real" light sabres for kids, I thought DH was going to knock me up just so he would have a reason to buy one.
  • He knows more about "nothing" then any person I have ever met and his long term memory is amazing. But, he can't remember what we talked about an hour ago.Exactly this. He knows the most random facts about absolutely nothing! He also thinks his life is a tv series and one day someone is going to jump out from behind a camera and reveal it. He has an incredibly creative mind. He critiques everything, color blends, fonts, trees, designs. He looks so much in depth at everything because he is an artist.
  • DH is an excutive chef for a major luxuary hotel chain.  He runs 4 restuarants (fine dining, sushi), banquets, in-room dinning.  He has cooked for presidents and celebraties.  He has quite the following and guests search him out just for him to cook for them.Yet his idea of cooking for me or taking me out is pizza or fast food.  No lie the guy can eat pizza or fast food every f'n day.Yep, I'm jealous when people tell me how lucky I am to be married to an awesome chef. I just say I wouldn't know.

  • ricks, we call him a strict bread constructionists.  It is a PITA though.  No pun intended.LVB, he has never done it.  I think he dreamed about it when he was a kid once though.  It mostly applies to desserts--no ice cream with chips or candy, no brownies with nuts, etc.  It's all about the texture, he likes the flavors otherwise.

  • I think I also saw a commercial when I was like 7 that said if you didn't sleep with a pillow between your legs your spine would look like this: Z .  I guess it stuck with me. I don't know if this is weird or not, but DH has to spread out so much that it drives me nuts. He is always encroaching on my personal space, which most of the time is fine. But when we're in an airplane and his giant lanky legs take up 5 ft of space and mine are together and take up 6 inches, it irks me. Or when I'm actually trying to do something (grade papers, write an email, knot, etc), it's like his limbs just creep around and crawl across the couch until they're somehow just sprawled all over me and I end up crouched in a little ball trying to type with a calf on the keyboard and an arm behind my back at just the right spot that it is impossible to actually lean back. That sounds weird, but oh well. I like snuggling and all, but I don't even think he realizes he's doing it. We call it "spidering all over me," I think because of a spider monkey or something. I don't know where we got the name, possibly from Taladega Nights, but every now and then I'll just say, " Bryan quit spidering!"  Ok so that probably is weird.

  • No kids here either. The first movie he ever saw was the very first star wars when he was 3 and has been hooked ever since.

  • The "Murder meat" just came out one day -There is no reasoning behind it.
  • Oh, and he and his brother made contracts for EVERYTHING when they were, like, 5 years old.  We found one not too long ago where 5 year old FI "hereby covenanted" to 9 year old FBIL to buy a comic book from him.  If FI sold it before the year 2000, FBIL was entitled to 60% of the profits.  (Sadly, it is essentially worthless.)Yes, they are both attorneys now, why do you ask?

  • I'm almost sad.  I was starting to think of weird things, but you guys blew them totally out of the water, ha ha.  Here's what I've got though:1. He has no sense of smell.  This comes in handy sometimes, except that I cook all the time and have no one to share the delicious smells with.2. He spends HOURS upon hours researching things on the web when he wants to buy something.  Seriously.  He's been looking at digital cameras probably for at least four hours already today.3. On a more positive note, he's really handy and creative.  He designed and built the bookshelf that is sitting in our living room, which is over 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide.  He modifies things all the time, like his bike, and refinishes furniture.  His first Christmas gift to me was that he completely hand-refinished an antique desk my great-aunt left me.

  • My FI:1. Wether standing, walking, or sitting he will do the Robot dance to any song that comes on. I am prepared for him to do this down the aisle and for our first dance.2. He also yells my name in public to embarass me. If I pretend not to know him, he yells louder.
  • Oh man, his whole personality is kind of weird, that's why I like him :)He's a fancy business man Mon-Fri and a grungy BMXer on the weekend. he has restless leg syndrome (it's really believe me) He calls His brother's dog who lives with us "shawty"
  • My DH is a great story teller.  He is so funny that once he gets a crowd going his storiess start to take on a life of their own.  So much so I have to tell him to divide by PI.   That is my code word that you are exaggerating too much.

  • He is super weird about food.  Hates cheese because it's gooey, pork of any sort, anything spicy, potatoes (except in french fry form), fish of any kind, and beans.  Hates shrimp cocktail.  Loves shrimp steamed in old bay.  Loves raw oysters & calamari. He is obsessed with Mario Kart on Wii.He was stationed in Germany for a couple of years, so he likes to throw out random German words here and there.  Without translations.  (I don't speak German.  I have taken to responding in Japanese.)When we started dating, he had 3 shirts he would wear that weren't Army or fire dept (his dad & brothers are all fire fighters). As a kid, he loved chips ahoy cookies & his dog.  So every time he got a cookie, he gave one to the dog.  Apparently the "chocolate kills dogs" theory does not apply to all dogs.  OR Chips Ahoy don't have real chocolate in them.  Dog lived a full life.He has lived in Kentucky for a couple of years now.  I was born here.  He has acquired a random KY accent on a few words that is MUCH more pronounced than mine.  Mixed with his Boston accent & he's a challenge to understand if you're not used to it.He's been all over Europe & the middle east, but (aside from a month at Fort Hood while at USMA) had never been west of the Mississippi River until we started dating.

  • When my FI and I go to the pool (usually in Vegas), he loves to go down the slide and make as big of a splash as he can, then he'll challenge the people watching him to make  bigger one! He's a total kid at heart!
  • Mine talks in his sleep.  Every.single.night.  It's hilarious and usually makes absolutely no sense.  The other night he warned me to not jump off the non-miracle tower.  He also refuses to eat anything that he thinks is out of date.  This might mean that it went out of date today, he's still not eating it.  This also applies to frozen meat.  I keep him out of the kitchen.
