Poll: What were you going to be named?

Re: Poll: What were you going to be named?

  • My dad wanted Kelsey, but my mom nixed it.  They ended up naming our dog Kelsey instead.  :)
  • I think I remember "A Rose for Emily", that was a creepy story. They found his hair on the pillow or something I think. I'm usually bad at remembering literature, so I'm proud of that much.

  • If I was a boy, I would have been named Carl. Needless to say, I'm glad I wasn't a boy!
  • I was going to be named Jennifer, but my parents decided when I was born to change to Stefani. The weird thing is that I've been called Jennifer by teachers and employers before.I would have been named James Paul after my dad if I would have been a boy, my sister was supposed to be a boy and her name is Jesica Paige, so she got my dad's initials since she was their last child.

  • My Mom wanted to name me Yolanda but thank God my brother couldn't say it.
  • Michael. Then I popped out a girl (thank god, euw to boy-parts) after my parents were told I'd be a boy and they switched the "would-be middle name" of Alexander to Alexandra, Alix for short :)Alix,my son is Michael Alexander
  • My sister was named about our grandparents, and it was decided as soon as my mom found out she was pregnant.  It would be Rosalia Theresa for a girl, and Bernard Raymond for a boy.  Bernard would have been pronounced "Ber-nerd" and my dad justifies it by saying we would have called her Ben.  Let's just say we're all glad she was a girl.

  • Mom wanted to name me Hope Marie. Gma somehow won out and I'm named after a Young and the Restless character first and middle names.
  • My mom says that named both me and my sister after words for light on other languages.  I mean, it does sound like an awfully poetic way to get to Lucy and Claire.Of course, there is the small matter of my having had a great great great grandmother Lucille, who, although a stalwart pioneer woman, was one of the homeliest people to ever walk this earth.  Oh, and the basset hound named Lucy that my uncle owned at the time I was born.  Must be a reason why bassets are my favorite breed...If I had been a boy, I would have been Daniel after my great uncle.  If my sister had been a boy, she would have been Carl after my grandfather.  When she popped out a girl my mom couldn't stand to name her Carla, so they went with Claire.
  • i was supposed to be one half of twin boys. I was supposed to be thomas and my bro was william. then mom had a dream i was a girl and named zelda. (dear god no) also nichole, leanne, or leeala lee. they finally decided on naming me after my grandmother and aunt. it was vernitta dorthy. dad hated it so they went with middle names instead so i am now elizabeth jean. im just glad i wasnt zelda.
  • My mother wanted to name me Eve Veronica. My initials would have spelled out my first name. Clever... I know. My father insisted I be named Marianne after both of my grandmothers (Mary and Ann, obviously). He worked at the hospital and sort of did it behind my moms back. Jerk.
  • Both of my parents agreed on Sadie for me.  My mom told my grandmother and my grandmother flipped out and told my mom that Sadie was a dog name and suggested "Lauren" because she saw some barrettes in a store with names painted on them and she bought the Lauren ones because she liked the name.  My parents agreed.  And my grandmother still calls me Lauren Bacall, she has my whole life.

  • My first name would have been Penelope.  Is it crazy that I don't think I would've minded? ha!
  • If I were a boy I would have been Brian Christopher.
  • Originally I was going to be a boy.  That didn't go so well.  I was going to be named Matthew David. As for girl names they were between Noel and Elizabeth for a bit.  I guess they randomly picked Hillary.

  • I always wanted to be named Penelope! Or Rory. Both got voted down when I wanted to name my girls. I should have gone with Penelope for older DD. I actually have no clue what I would have been named. I'm named after my great-grandmother on one side and my grandmother on the other. I wanted to name my older daughter Andrea Renee, and call her Andi. From the time I found out she was a girl until birth I wanted to name her that. For some reason when she popped out EX and his mother gave her a COMPLETELY different first and middle name and said I gave it to her and didn't remember because of the drugs. Funny, her middle name is the female version of his name... I still hate them both for that. DD would have been an adorable Andi.
  • If I would have been a boy, I think maybe Matthew. Other girl options were Bonnie and Stephanie. They decided against Stephanie because they were worried it was too long when I was learning to write my name. (Really? this is a concern?)  Funny, though, my SIL is Stephanie, so there is still a Stephanie Pirata. Also, I had a cousin who was born a week before me. Her name was Jill and she died right after our first Christmas (we were less than 2 months old) from SIDS.  My cousin (who would have been her brother) married a girl named Jill, so again, there is still a Jill Pirata.

  • My parents did not find out what I was. They wanted a surprise. If I was a boy I was going to be named after my father Richard Francis Jr. but the girl name my mom picked out was Nadine Marie. My father hated it! Thankfully when I was born he said he didnt want my name to be Nadine and therefore my mother changed her mind and went with Leeanne which she saw because she worked at the hospital and someone named their baby that prior to me being born. Nadine not only doesnt go with my last name, but I cant imagine being named it.

  • The other girl name options my parents had for me were Molly and Rhiannon. I think almost every girl born around that time to hippie/flower child parents was almost named Rhiannon. My dad heard the name Moira and decided he really like it so they went with that instead. I love it.If I (or my sis, for that matter) had been a boy I would have been Owen Robert. Owen in in my top 5 for naming a son if I ever have one.
